Went back to a field today where my wife and I spent quite a bit of time on last year. Half of the field was corn so we couldn't check it till it got chopped. Went back today only to find someone had been detecting the field a week ago. Just our luck. Went out and gave it a shot and found my first large cent from 1856 and a heel plate with a heart in it. Yahoo.. here is a picture.

The farmer said the other guys only found a few buttons. But they dug about a hundred holes most they never bothered to fill in.

Cool heel plate and LC. Congrats!

Very Nice!! Congrats!! Shell casings don't always surface!

Nice work Doug! The first time you see an LC you’re thinking...”What in the WORLD is THAT!” It’s just so foreign looking compared to today’s coins, and to think....that’s one cent! Pretty cool to find one, lots of people who have been hunting a LONG time still haven’t found one. Congrats on the first!!

I've got a heel plate with a star in it. I've been looking for one with a heart....congrats there not easy to come by !!

Big time congrats for knocking two off the bucket list- that LC is sweet!!
