Decided hunt my yard for awhile this morning...I have dug plenty of wheats and clad, a lawn mower :tard: ....but no silver yet...I hit one spot I hadn't tried before and quickly got a nice steady quarter reading on my ace...about 2 inches down...eureka!...a dirt encased half dollar size disk, with a hole in it....

crap1.jpg

dropping my detector right there...ran into the house thinking...probably a holed barber half, heck, I don't care...nice find...well a light wash under the faucet revealed another hole...2 holes?...that's still OK.. further rinsing brought my back down to earth... a metal disk with 2 holes...bummer... :P

But with an "I'm in it to win" attitude :snorting: ....I headed back out and starting swinging and...mumbling....
Just a few feet away from where a found my "counterfeit" half ...got a good hit...shallow and large...concerned about damaging my next valuable find...I kicked away at the leaves and dirt with my sneaker.. ;D...Peering down...not trying to get too excited...I spotted a the cover of a decorative tin...

crap4.jpg

Probably just the top I thought....without raising my heartbeat....I gave it another kick...but no movement from the lid..reaching down I was able to wrap my fingers around it and to my surprise discovered the whole container was buried...Yes!...now we're talking...barber half?...heck now I've got a whole can of gold coins..carrying the heavy tin back towards the house, prying on the lid as I went, my thoughts went to what I would do with my fortune..

crap5.jpg

Unable to pry it opened...I gave it few sharp raps with my digger to loosen it...slowly removing the top uncovered what I have only dreamed of finding....

A carefully bundled bag of.......sludge..... :BangHead: After finding a safe place to dispose of the possibly toxic substance.....I returned to my detector with hopes dashed and ready to concede defeat... on the way back to the house...I did managed to find a memorial cent..1964.....Honest...

Great story! Reminds me of the time I dug up a big cookie tin in my back yard many years ago. My two boys gathered around and the three of us were so excited we could hardly stand it. We popped the top off and there it was, the dead body of the previous owner's parakeet, tucked safely away with it's favorite toy and a little bird ladder. We reburied it, and the kids (now married w/ their own kids) still talk about it once in a while. You just never know......

It's probably the cremated remains of someone or something that got wet!

It "is" the cremated remains of a pet. by the size I would say a dog

You didn't put it back? O no :icon_study:

man o man and it was at your yard too :read2: :notworthy:

Good strory, man I was hopping you found some treasure Iwas sarting to envy you, but I would of been shaking the tin to see if I could here something was in there on the way in to the house. nice find enyway.

Well whoever or whatever it was.... it's part of the driveway now...If they cared that much they should of wrote Fluffy or Grandma on it....
