Trying to understand the difference in computer chips used in detectorss

I’m not an engineer, or electronics specialists so I ask those of you that know, I ask not being stupid but I have a thirst for knowledge being an older guy. Anyhow example minelab and xp deus, does the computer chips they use offer an advantage or is it the engineering department that processes the information into the control panel. I hear so much about certain computer chips being better, faster etc. I myself don’t have a problem with taking my time learning and patience is important. Coils are basically the same other than the size. Do these modules have a specific life time or is battery and updates will determine the time of use, meaning it’s time for the next latest and greatest unit, thankyou for trying to understand my question.

One processor chip may be faster than others, however all any of them know is what they're programmed with.

I maybe wrong in this, and if I am mark it up as a senior moment.

Deus has the chip in the coil I read somewhere.
Minelab has it in the control as other manufacturers.

So the time to process information from coil to chip is different speeds.
How much I'm in the dark.
