Trying to identify quarter sized coin with possible ancient script

rpman coin

Roman? Can you tell me anything else? It was found on a beach in Mexico, enclosed in some concretion. The lady took home the concretion, got it out, and cleaned it up. At this point, we are all stumped... I am wondering whether there might be a shipwreck nearby.

The front and the back of the coin both show a very similar scene, with two people seated.

Are both sides the same, or did you only post pics of one side?

First Impression: With duplicate images on front and back, I doubt it's a coin.
The three letters in the exergue (that area below the line) would indicate the mint mark.
I wont guess at the first letter but the other two appear to be "ES".
The only three letter mint mark ending in ES that I'm aware of are from Thessalonica (in Greece today): OES and TES
Do I see the word "GLORIA"?
Don......

I doubt its shipwreck related. It looks like a very poor and damaged modern cast replica or fantasy coin to me. However it is interesting and certainly deserves an ID.., Some of the European guys could verify this. Try asking Crusader because Im certainly no expert on ancients..
