Trouble in paradise !!

Nothing has changed, the foundations of Europe was built on exploitation of poorer nations, the present-day European union was a model the German used from 12th century to exploit and control trade, the Hanseatic League was formed in the 13th century.

“The New Hanseatic League, or the Hansa, also called the Hanseatic League 2.0,was established in February 2018 by European Union finance ministers from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Sweden through the signing of a two-page foundational document that set out the "shared views and values in the discussion on the architecture of the Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union (EMU)". The name is derived from the Hanseatic League, a Northern European commercial and defensive league which lasted until the 16th century” Gregor 11 March 2018).

After the second world war a group of high-ranking German officers were placed in a room, unaware their conversations were being recorded, One General, stated,

“We should have not tried to conquer Europe by military means but by economic means”

It is the ultimate irony of the past 20 years of European integration that its very effects are now pushing Germany closer to the position of power which post-war European treaties sought to prevent.

Columbia is financially in the doghouse, it cannot bite the hand that feeds it. The European Union is Colombia's third largest trading partner and the second largest source of foreign direct investment in the country. In 2022, Colombian exports to the European Union reached EUR 9,316 million, Spain of course is one of the Major partners in the Europe.

Spain’s government is guided by academic advisors and departments, who in their own way use the system to promote and protect their own values, opinions and worth as employees, none of these institutions or people base their opinion on what is best for an individual or society, they base it on strengthening their countries economy,
in a way that most benefits their own pockets and in turn those who fund the political parties they are part of, or departments they work in. Your vote in real terms is not worth a thing as unelected academics run the world.

So, the fact that the San Jose could be used for the benefit of Colombia, is not considered it is still all about the Might of Spain, based on advice from people driving their own agendas and job security.

You know why why Spain is sending their candy asses princess on a tour of the countries in the Caribbean?

Spain is declaring all Spanish shipwrecks part of their cultural heritage.
They have just completed a massive project gathering information on them and all of them are now protected

The Culture Ministry has charted the 681 vessels sunk between 1492 and 1898, including the Santa María, the largest of Christopher Columbus’s three ships on his first voyage across the Atlantic

Hundreds of pages from the General Archive of the Indies in Seville and Madrid’s Naval Museum have been scrutinized, along with 420 old maps in order to create the most extensive guide to Spanish shipwrecks and treasure to date, and which is part of the National Plan for the Protection of the Cultural Underwater Heritage of Spain, developed according to the UNESCO Convention of 2001.

So the ramifications of this. You think you can salvage Spain ship regardless of country or deal you will make with that country. Spain will bankrupt you in the courts.

Spains cultural heritage

Looks like Spain has decided to skip the step of just declaring they were all warships.

With ownership comes responsibility.
Spain owns all Spanish shipwrecks. Spain has the responsibility to clean up the poisonous substances on these shipwrecks.
Mercury, lead, copper are poisonous. Marine life, fish and shellfish living near such sites accumulate the poison.
Other sea creatures feed on the poisoned sea life and are then eaten by humans who in turn get poisoned.
The ones who pollute have to be held accountable. They have to do the cleanup and pay indemnization.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minamata_disease ---this is what mercury does.
Spain shipped a thousand tons of mercury to the new world. How many tons ended up on the bottom of the sea?

Bit off topic but just a fact that most watercraft use a bottom coat of 28%-75% copper thiocyanate.
(There's newer applications of paint that makes it too slippery for marine life to attach)

So it wears off like soap, high concentration of boating, higher concentration of contamination.

Waters are now full of everything...
pharmaceuticals... metals... and of course micro-plastics are among the first on some current list(S).
