Was actually supposed to play golf today, but a electrical storm scratched that. Well, it quit raining after an hour or so and I decided to break out the detector on a nice cool evening. I had out to local park right across from a college where I had previously found a 1/2 CT heart shaped diamond ring. (see thread "Ring#3") I didn't get ten feet from my truck and got a good signal off the bat. I dug it up to find a child's brass ring. That must have set the tempo for the day because about ten feet away, I get a good "gold/nickel" signal. I dig to find a huge class ring! It looked like a beast coming out of that hole lol. Could not find any markings besides school insignia, I am assuming it is titanium. Was made by the Jonsten company.(Still not real sure what it is) I am going to try to locate the owner. Kept digging finding some clad a total of about $0.86. I see a row of benches over by the playground and work my way to the second bench. BAM another gold signal! I dig to find more gold in the hole! This was a woman's band with a three diamond setting, but noticed that two of the rocks had fallen out. Was very happy to see the 14Kt on the inside of the band. Not bad for two hours! This hobby is becoming very addictive. Thanks for looking and HH!

highly doubt that jostens is titanium. Probably 10K white. Maybe rubbed off, but not usually!

sweet ring finds and gold too!

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures

Niceeeeeeee

I am so pumped up right now that I HAVE to share this with somebody. I actually got unlimited access to 12 acres of land from a former Union Headquarters site where Rutherford Hayes and William McKinley were stationed. There is actually a history marker on the property!!!! I spoke with the landowner who has not granted ANYONE access to detect the property for generations. The landowner recently inherited the property. She was adamant that no one has ever detected on the property with permission. She went on to tell me that while her family plowed a garden, several cannon balls (grape shots) were found. She went on to say that there are gold bars that may or may not be buried on the property that was stolen from the confederates??? This may be folktale that has been passed down, but gets my blood pumping anyway! She did say that lots of artifacts will be found and she wanted some donated to the museum. I have no problem with that!! She also stated that if anything valued at more than 10,000 was to be found, she would like a reasonable percentage! I also have no problem with that!( American Digger...Eat your heart out!) All of this because, I stopped and spoke with her son who lives on the property and asked for permission. After talking with the landowner, we ended up having a lot of friends in common. I am so thrilled right now, I can hardly contain myself! I am supposed to hit it next Wednesday, pictures will definitely follow. I'm going for a banner!!!

Eric,

You have a GOLDEN opportunity here...take it and run with it. Best of luck in your future hunts on the property. And don't forget us little people when it comes time to show off those finds !!! LOL

HH to all

Cool rings. I think it's time to put in for some vacation time and camp in that field for the whole week, just like the union soldiers did, and get your zen on. GOOD LUCK!!

Very nice rings. Best of luck on your new permission.

Real nice ring finds!
Next time you find a ring missing stones scoop out some dirt from the hole and take it home with you to check for the stones, can't hurt!

Well,
As bad as I hated to do it, I returned the class ring to the owner. I had it checked out and was told I could have gotten $200-$250 bucks out of it. The guy was not the best of character and I actually knew him from school. If the roles were reversed, I know I would not have gotten a class ring lol. Anyway, I did what was right and I will sleep better tonight. I hope to get some good Joo-Joo out of it on my big hunt coming up. I am convinced that this was also a test of my character from God. On a good note, I did sell the other ring missing the two settings for $45. I'll take it!
