Treasure Trees

I've read that Native Americans used to "train" trees to grow in such a pattern that acts like a map of sorts. I came across two trees that look really out of place, and I'm wondering if there's anything to it. Not sure if it helps or matters, but both of these trees are located on a property very near the San Marcos River in Texas.

I should pay attention to this thread and all links provided. I have a Beech tree estimated at 600 + years down at the "spring house" - we used to tote water up to the house in buckets when I was a child (I put water up to the house for Granny before she passed at 88). Now Mom is 94 and I'm likely going to head that way myself... So it's likely I'll be around to haunt TNet for a while

My tree, estimated at 600+ by local arborists .....

The only treasure here is the sanctuary of that tree and a kilometer long driveway.....
