So I'm still waiting for my Tesoro Sand Sharf to arrive so I can start on my treasure hunting expeditions. I decided to take a walk to see if my hunch on a good beach would turn up anything. Within 10 minutes of walking, I found these 2 items. I know they're some type of metal and based on the size of the shell attached, I'm guessing they're pretty old too. How do I go about removing the buildup without damaging the find??!

I'm not the expert here on salt water finds, but you should put them in a fresh water bath to desalinize them. As they dry in their currant state they will turn to dust. Change the water every couple days. I'm not sure how long to soak them, but I'm sure someone will chime in with the answer. Hope their good finds

Apple Cider Vinegar; or Olive oil soak. Looks like "leaverite" though. As in "leave 'er right" where you found it.

Lol....gotta check everything around here!

That salt water did do some corrosion. Pour a little coke on there, that should help it out. Nah, just joking. To get that cleaned up pretty good your gonna have to soak that to break up some of that corrosion. What ever it is, it looks like it came off of a boat (I could be wrong). When you get your Tesoro Sand Sharf go back to that beach after high tide. May just find something that washed up. HH

Sand Shark....lol....my bad. I am for sure. I live about 10 minutes up and down from all the wreckage spots of the 1715 fleet so any hit is gonna be dug and cleaned.

I bet you'll find some good finds then.
