Thanks LOL. The shades may be silver. :-\ The wood piece is hard as a rock... petrified? :icon_scratch:
The tiny copper nipple may be a relic.

Re: Treasure Beach Finds

I am still heading that way on Sunday! It was nice of you to leave the Spanish coins for me. ;D

Re: Treasure Beach Junk

I got interested in St. Augustine Beach when I saw a Weather Channel reporter on TV standing in a four foot cut talking about how bad the beach erosion was. I had never been there before but thought I would check it out.

Well I went there. Wind was still howling and rain was still falling and there was no beach erosion. I don't know where she was when shooting that piece for T.V. but it had to be in the only four foot cut available. I walked the beach for over a mile and nothing. I did get a nice little silver chain. I was amazed that my Infinium even hit on it. It was a fine chain and not heavy. I guess it was balled up or somthing. Got a Speed Racer Hot Wheels type car and a several coins but that was not what I was there for. In general, my first shot at hunting after a big storm was disappointing to say the least.

The waves were really impressive. I looked out to see row after row of big wave coming in. I started to imagine how when the Treasure Fleet sank, those poor saps on the ships were having to try to swim to shore in such waves. At one time, I counted a series of 17 waves 10 to 12 feet high in a formation coming into shore all stacked up one behind the other. The Atlantic stayed that way the whole time I was there. It was really an amazing site. Didn't have a camera with me that I was willing to risk to the weather.

I hear the erosion down on the Treasure Coast was also minimal. If that is the case, you can probably save your time and energy.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Re: Treasure Beach Junk

Thanks for the reply Chief and congrats on the chain.

Actually there were some cuts on the Treasure Coast. I am VERY surprised to hear about Saint Augustine. :icon_scratch: I spotted a 12 foot cut near Wabasso! But the average cut was about 4 feet...not enough to cut below the renourishment. But there were two cuts...one on top of the other. I guess the first deeper cut was from the East winds and the second smaller cut came later. Lots of black sand showing...beach renourishment crap. Im heading back up this morning. I have seen some finds that were made. The man in the second pic found a 1/2 real and a rarer silver button. Notice the cuts under the stairs. Problem is, the early bird gets the worms, and its getting late. :D
