Well I thought I would show my latest project. The trashiest place on earth. The original section is early 1800's and even the inside walls were log. Has some big additions from around 1870's. Never saw a place with so much trash around it. :BangHead:

The lane leading to the house and the front of house. What little you can see of it.

Pretty neat old home but may be a little past a remodel.:laughing7:

It would be a shame to bulldoze the place since it's survived all these years but I understand you wanting to detect it without making it a career. As mentioned, if the wood or other features are still useable, there are people who would love to have them for their projects. There may be less loose nails in the ground if you disassemble the house instead of knocking it down too. Just be carefull that the house doesn't fall down around your ears! Let us know what you find.

If you take down that house be sure to save those hand hewn logs. I know a guy in va that buys them for somewhere in the neighbor hood of 2-5 dollars a foot. That might be a ton of cash there. Or at least pay for the gas. Good luck

See TNGUNS....I'm smart because I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night:laughing7:

Whoa ........not gonna touch the house. Just want to clear the lot. It may not be much to look at but has some real history. Would let her stand if I owned it. Sure not gonna ask to take her down on his property.:tongue3: Hope to head that way here in a few and will get some more pics....thanks for the input.

man .. I'd give my left leg to hunt this place... (it would be easier to get down and dig) nice history .. worth maybe restoring.. not many of these old places left in Tenn . people will buy the wood. Have fun!:notworthy:

You lucky dog!!! Id pay to have a place like that to detect!

Just got great news. My best bud owns an excavating company and will clean it up for me. I set up all of his hunting guns and order his equipment at cost so he said least he could do. Now if landowner says ok I am in business. Even gonna get access to little track hoe to pluck small brush and trees and repair road. One days work at most. He knows land owner and has done work for him so who knows may be happy to get it done.
Say, can ya do me a favor? Let me know where you put all the piles of dirt? ;) LOL

I'd run for the outhouse(s) behind that home like a man that ate too many green (un-ripe) apples. :laughing7: There is no doubt there are some good finds waiting there for you. Good luck!

Old bridge.....been gone a day or two. No one knows when :icon_scratch:

Notice the orb in the old road pic....the home is on the ridge above it??? no joke

I just don't see your problem. Doesn't everyone carry a 1 inch coil? Should be able to shoot that whole area. Sometime before the next millennium. LOL

HH!

That is not a bad idea.....never seen anything like it. Every shovel has rotten can and nails not to mention the more modern stuff. Even moved out from the house a good ways. Impossible to ground balance. Had to move probably 100 yards to get a ground balance and just left it there. The G2 is pretty good in trash but gonna have to get the 5 inch to have a prayer.:BangHead:

Must of been a pretty prominent homeowner way back when, I count fouir different fireplaces.Good sized home for back then , maybe a plantation owner? Doesnt matter its HAPPY HUNTING TIME for you. Congratulations and goodluck, be careful that place doesnt fall down with you in it!

No, no, no. I said a one inch coil!!! ;)

Actually, why bother ground balancing at all? In the beginning, anyway. Just surface hunt until you get the top cleared off, (by whatever means). I suspect that even the worst ground balancing in the world would still allow surface to 2-3 inches.

By the by, need any help? ;)

WHADIFIND.....I could sure enough use some help .....where ya at. Got a few more to find in the same area. Looked for the guy who put me on them today but not at home. Know pretty well where they are but he said he would show me exactly. :icon_thumleft:

I honestly would love to dig into a project like this again. But, just as honestly, I KNOW I would just get in the way. Can't handle the load as well anymore. 'Sides, I'm just south of the Mason Dixon line so it would be much too far.

MAN! Would I love to try again though!

Here's an idea for ya, build a large automatic sifter and just doze off the top and let the shaker/sifter find the stuff for you. At least in the beginning anyway. :)

HH!

What about dragging a big heavy duty magnet around a bit, just to thin out the crap.

Well come on WHADIFIND and supervise......would love to have ya .And I can assure you that you would not be in the way.:occasion14:

seekandfind....yep it is big. Especially for the time period and location. Found another on Mobray Mtn that beats all I have ever seen. About 4 two story cut stone chimneys and foundation is runs like a jigsaw puzzle. Huge but too grown up to hunt. Home burned many years ago. Another winter project. Big bottle dump as well. Nice young man that is a friend of the owners took me too the bottle dump. Never have really dug one.
