I’ve had a bunch of tools over the years. They have come and gone. I’m finally trying to be responsible adult.

I have never paid anyone to do anything for me when it comes to most all automotive and household repairs.

I’ve got a rolling tool chest and now need tool organizers.

My question is this, does anybody have recommendations about tool organizers that facilitate being able to transfer tools to a mobile box to do repairs on the road?

For instance a wrench roll. Just looking for ideas to avoid buying two sets of tools.

Great post and questions tesoro

Right now, I’ve left the sockets in the boxes they came in, but it’s not convenient to use in the rolling toolbox and the cardboard will likely not last long.

Question ? WHY is there NEVER ENOUGH time to put them back where you got them from . BUT more time to SEARCH FOR THEM next time you need them ?

The go to around here for contractors seems to be these set ups. They all swear by the convenience of having everything sorted, accessible.
Just takes a good amount of $$$

I work in hvacr and use Milwaukee packout system with a wiha tool backpack. Everyday use stuff goes in backpack to carry in and out of jobs, everything else goes in the pack outs in the van

From my perspective, moving tools from home storage to mobile storage contributes to the "gone" potion of the "here and gone". Over the years I have accumulated many tools that have a home in my shop in various tool chests where I use various types of organizers to make it apparent when a tool is not in its home. For mobile, I have migrated to a tool bag with hand wrenches in tool rolls and a small socket set in a case supplemented with a few additional tools (screwdrivers, pliers). The mobile set is less than a tenth what is in my shop and is intended for very simple repairs. With all of the changes in fasteners that have occurred over the years, if I attempted to duplicate my shop capability in my vehicle, there would not be room for me.

Ya, that’s great for carpentry / handyman stuff, but not suitable for automotive or heavy equipment repair. Dang right it’s expensive. I can’t leave something like that in my truck bed around here unfortunately. Small town with record crime per capita

You speak from experience. That thought crossed my mind. It’s easy enough to grab the cardboard box of sockets and an impact gun, but it takes up a lot of room in the drawer and I don’t want to have to buy another impact socket set/gun.
