Tool for finger?

This thing seems to be complete, except for the broken closure of the ring part. The ring fits very comfortably on a finger. It's made of iron. The "blade" or "hook" part is flattened in cross-section and gradually thins until reaching the rounded tip. The edges are rounded and don't appear to have ever been sharp. If it helps, most items found at the site seem to date to the 1830s and before. I don't think nose-picker. Possibly ear wax removal tool? :-\

I thought the same thing, but I wasn't able to find anything on the web that was similar to this thing. The only ones that I found had the leather strap that fits around all the fingers, brass nuckle style.

I cleaned it up today, using electrolysis. I was hoping there would be some wording or design on it. No such luck. It appears to me to be a tool that was designed to fit on a finger, out of the way, while the hand was being used for other steps of whatever operation was being performed. The tool would then be readily accessible and could be brought into play to perform it's special task. Maybe something for the kitchen or maybe for sewing...........just guessing.

The shape looks like a modern oil filter removal tool which is a tool to grip and unscrew a round object.

How about a wood wheel spoke tool or other farm implement tool of that type??

thinking still...
