Cute kid. You've definitely planted the seed. She'll remember doing that for the rest of her life.

Now I need to go and get a serious magnet and head down to my river. I got just the spot in mind.
I'm definitely intrigued.....
Heck yeah man. It's the perfect little hobby for a sunny afternoon. Don't even have to untangle one fishing pole either!

I have a friend and she has two young kids, one a little girl about the same age as yours. I took her detecting last fall and it was one of the best hunts of my life. I had planted a gold plated ring which she found but then she turned around and scored an 1895 V Nickel all on her own with my 30 dollar Tracker IV. I couldn't believe it. She skunked me that day. She was just overjoyed and it was priceless.

I gave her a coin holder about a week later and she decorated it up. She's real proud of that old coin I know that she'll never forget that day and neither will I. I'm pretty certain we'll be going again at some point. Again, the seed has been planted.

It's awesome you can get out there and go hunting like that. And I'm completely serious when I say I'm intrigued. Exactly what type of magnet is that y'all are using anyway?? I have a few spots in mind in my nearby river. It actually looks an awful lot like yours. It could actually be the same place based on your video.

I can't remember the exact model number but if you go to k and J magnetics online you can find any kind of magnet you could ever desire.
Is the location you have in mind in North Ga?

No I'm in central MD. I grew up about 1/2 mile from the upper Patapsco river. It's more like a large creek with scattered deep holes than a big river way up where I am but it's a beautiful place. It's huge where it meets the Chesapeake Bay but I'm miles away from there. It was my personal playground growing up (still is). Fishing, swimming, canoeing, rafting, tubing, camping, you name it. I was always in the those woods.

It looks very much like the area in your video.

Well good luck if you decide to get a magnet. It is very fun. Not sure if you've researched the history there but you never know what has made its way into a creek over the years. Good luck!

There's plenty of history and I know plenty of good spots. I've been walking the river for years and sometimes after heavy rains and floods. It's amazing how it changes from year to year. You never know what will turn up. There's also a railroad running alongside the river for miles and miles and a few tunnels and trestles. It's a really cool area. There are also MANY streams running in on both sides.

The downside is, it's all getting too well known. You gotta' go deeper into the woods than you used to if you want any peace and solitude.

Here's a shot of one of my spots. I've caught a few nice Smallmouth right above these rocks in the flat water. They also stock it with Rainbow Trout and a few Brown Trout. I like to canoe and float downstream, hitting the holes along the way. I have a trolling motor to get me from point A to point B these days. It's definitely way faster than paddling. Of course, I paddled for many years before finally getting a motor.

I love this time of year because it all begins real soon.

It's the same way here in North Georgia. The best spot we've found so far required a 3 mile hike back into the hollows. It's where my wife dug the CSA button in another video of mine.
I remember sitting on my grandpa's porch when I was a kid and he'd tell me stories about his childhood. I think I've been nostalgic for the past ever since. Now, no matter how far you hike or paddle it seems like you can still hear the faint rumbles of tires on pavement. And if you manage to get far enough from roads, there's definitely no escaping the hums of airplanes.
This is going to be my first summer transitioning from a John boat to a kayak. I'm hoping to discovery a few crannies seldom explored by others. Really looking forward to it and filming everything I encounter.
That's a really pretty spot you have there. Wished we had smalls here. Our striper bite is unmatched though considering how shallow the river is where they make their run.
Thanks for watching, as always.
