Too much negativity lately

I'm rather sickened by the tone on some of the posts. It seems there are a few members who feel its their place,obligation,mission in life etc to berate, argue, smack talk or run ppl off a post for some reason. I think its appalling that these ppl have nothing better to do with their lives and something needs to be done. Its disgraceful that ppl feel the need to do this when the majority come here to share in something they care about. The original topic of the post is taken over by arguments and that's what needs to stop. You little boys who want to get in a my detector is bigger than your detector match or your opinion doesn't matter only mine does need to find another site. I'm not making this up I've seen too much already,can't hide the truth. Anyone else see this besides me?

I don't usually bite on this kind of thing but I agree. I am so excited about this hobby I often think.......man....why are these people so pissed off? Its a truly great hobby and hunt with whatever works for you..........

Can you site the thread(s) you are referring to? It is hard to either agree or disagree on a generic diatribe.

this topic has come up before and will again i am sure.
i think overall the people here are helpful and polite . there are always a few that are not , but the good ones far outweigh the bad ones.
It also seems that the majority of negative comments stay in certain areas ( maybe due to company they keep ? ) .
But i do have to say lately the negative comments have tapered off either due to the Mods or they have wised up.
Just my observation

Well, we all have good days and bad days. There is an old saying, " You have to take the bitter with the sweet". I also see a lot of constructive criticism that is taken the wrong way. It is not unusual for a post to be sidetracked for a couple of posts. It sometimes breaks up the boredom of the subject.
What gets me are the ones that are so addicted to a brand that they are blinded to the advantages that some other brands have. Hay, I have 4 different brands in my stable. Sure I have favorites for each type of detecting, but they have earned it. Just my thiughts. Frank...

I agree 100%. I was involved in the thread about "The Man". As of now I am done, I came here for information and to ask qustions about this hobby I just got involved with. Not to be in a pissing match with somebody across the states!

If I upset anybody, I do apologize. I just let my feelings get the best of me.

Yes I saw that post and commented on it od that's the correct one and it certainly ruffled some feathers. I just don't understand why it has to get so nasty, it's the intent to hurt is what I see. Some lady asked about a toilet issue and ppl jumped this woman saying this is no place for you to come on here complaining of you having cancer,how dare you do that, have respect for others on this forum and others writing well if you need to pay for the toilet sell all your horses they aren't worth anything blah blah. I was astounded at how she reached out and had her hand slapped for doing so. Yes ppl came to her defense but it quickly turned into an argument. I really like this forum, it's helped me, I enjoy the comradery, great to see ppl finding history that otherwise would rot away and its story lost. I will leave it to the mods to handle.

This is a great idea. I also think this could be a better site if political discussions and ideologies were prohibited. The far left and right will never agree, but both are passionate about their beliefs. Most of the arguing I see on here is related to political discussions and ideologies. It is hard to resist responding to someone who makes a statement you totally disagree with and that is all it takes to get an argument started. If all of us just stay on target with treasure hunting and metal detecting, we can enjoy these forums without going away angry, feeling bullied or bullying someone else.

The owner of the site said to allow 2nd amendment posts which is why they are allowed on 2nd amendment forum which we started so they were only in the one location, all other political posts must be related to treasure hunting.....

I just wish everyone would abide by that rule. I watch what I post now because I would prefer to avoid political discussions. You do a good job keeping people on point Treasure Hunter and I appreciate that.

To be perfectly honest in my opinion, I must state that politics has now creeped into every corner of life. The propagation of laws is never ending, and each law takes something away from the people, sometimes good, sometimes bad. It's the extreme regulation of my life by the gov. that I object to. Land of the free, use to be. Frank...

Keep on we will have to MD in the dark with friends as spotters using night vision on case the "man" comes or some nosey woman who has nothing better to do but complain how were killing grass and earthworms. Would be hysterically funny to flick an earthworm on one of those nosey complaining women, I can see it now.
