I went down to an old park over the weekend and there were just way to many coins. I tried to avoid them and only dig up the deeper signals, but got sucked into digging things I would prefer to pass. In just over 3 hours I dug 86 coins which included 20 quarters, 26 dimes, 38 pennies including about 8 wheaties and a couple of nickels. I've dug great coins from this place including a half real, seated half dime, Barber dime and a number of Indians on the same day. The old stuff is there, it's just hard to get through all the new stuff. I guess I'm going to have to grid off sections and dig everything. The place has gone to the dogs, literally. On a Saturday morning it's not uncommon to see hundreds of dogs on the loose at any one time. Many of them like to come over and see what you're up to and maybe help dig. I like dogs so I don't mind, but if you don't, it's not the place for you. I did reward myself one the way home and made a detour in Manhattan and went by the Carnegie Deli and picked up a pastrami sandwich, the best on the planet. Yes, they do cost $17.00, but you get over a pound of the best pastrami there is.

Pastrami has always been my favorite.......the old kind that is. Wait till you start pulling up jewelry dude!!:laughing7: It's gotta be there amongst all those coins!!

GOD Bless

Chris

That was a lot of digging and I am not sure if I could have kept detecting with all the modern stuff showing up, but sometimes it feels good getting so many good targets. The reward at the end was needed I am sure. :) Don

Nice looking sandwich. I would put a little mustard on it.

I have found some really old spots completely loaded with modern clad. Always makes me want to give a couple cheap detectors to local kids and let them dig up all that surface money so I can come back later and get the deep, old ones!

Well, did you use you new found change to pay for lunch?

Actually the sandwich was so big it was too big to put in your mouth. I opened up half of it on a plate and smothered it with the mustard they give you on the side. It was out of this world.

I don't know what is sweeter..the pile of clad or the sandwich! That should make up for the days that you go hunt only to swing and swing and find absolutely nothing..just a couple of toasted zincolns and memorials. But it appears you had a great time and finished it off with a nice snack. ddf

That's what George has me do at all his spots

Did you see anybody else there with a detector ? So many city parks are going the way of "off limits" that I guess I'm surprised
it was allowed there - Feed the piggy bank !

Hope you didn't bury that aluminum foil from the sandwich..... knowing my luck I'll be the one digging it up! :tongue3:

awesome sandwich, last good one like that I had was over 7 years ago on Long Island, won't ever get to go there again but will never forget those sandwiches, you for sure can't get anything remotely close to them here in Arkansas. oh yeah, super good clad find as well, that kind adds up quickly towards the upgrades and such

This one allows detecting Saturday and Sunday with a permit.

Whatever it is, coins or pastrami, you go by the pound ! ;)

As you said, the place went to the dogs. Might have to grid off or pick less popular sections.
