Tomorrows hunt

Good Luck, nice site find. What does the other side look like (where the house once stood)?

The other side of the tunnel is open, but stacked full of what looks like chicken crates. The homestead is tucked up against the mountain and the railroad encircles it, with no road in. I don't know when the railroad was built, but I can remember as a kid (early 1960's) the tunnel was open and I'd always see cars parked there.

I finally got back to the tunnel site yesterday after work, my detector has been sick for awhile. Only spent about an hour there, lots of trash to deal with. I only found one thing worth keeping, this enameled tag. It was still attached to a piece of rotten wood with 2 little brass nails, which crumbled when I dug it out. I think it's from a refrigerator, I don't know why it was on a piece of wood though. I'm going back there soon and I'm taking my iPad along for pictures.View attachment 1301683
