Can you find this medalion on the web so I can see a better picture.
Heres the strange bit, they have the dates wrong for the laiding of the stone. I can clearly read March & it was laid in June.
Here is what I can read:
The first stone
of the new
London Bridge
was laid by
John Garratt esq
Lord Mayor of london
on the 14 March 182?
and opened by their
Majesties
August 1st 1831
Other side:
CA??RI?GH 133 Ft
Length of bridge ?82 FT
Centre Arch
Side Arch 14
UPDATE
1824 - 15th March - First piles driven for coffer dam(s) for construction of Sir John Rennie's new London Bridge
1825 - 15th June - Foundation Stone laid in presence of Duke of York
1827 - 4th August - First arch on Southwark side completed
1831 - 1st August - Bridge officially opened by William IV and Queen Adelaide
