Found this up in Chaffee County, Colorado near an old mining/ghost town site. All I can make out is "10" and "Monarch" on one side, and nothing on the other. My initial research hasn't turned anything up, so thought I'd share here. Thinking it could be a store/saloon token, or maybe a miners tag? Though I'd think a miners tag would have a hole so it could be hung

Looks like a trade token. As you surmise, Monarch may be a name for a saloon.

Could be company scrip from the Monarch mine. It was in business in Chaffee county from the 1880's well into the 20th C.

so the above doesn't mean much. I thought you copied his token :tongue3:

Due to The lack of allot of Detail, Scrip may be possible. so is saloon token or slot machine token to get around laws

I bet it came from the ghost town of Monarch. There were quite a few saloons, from the article. Maybe the local directories would list the saloon. Maybe token catalog would solve it. They solved a mystery token for me. Great Colorado find!!! Screenshot_20200903-134208.png
