Found this token this afternoon in Portland OR. I found one just like it on EBay but with no additional information other than what is on the token. There was also another one on EBay that said Lambs Club Western Hotel and it was attributed to Sacramento, CA.

Any information ya'll can provide will be greatly appreciated.

This token is listed on page #351 of the OREGON TRADE TOKENS book by James Hemphill. Round brass 21mm in diameter ~ R-3 (scarce ~ 21-35 examples known) ~ resturant in Portland 1914 to 1918.

This info is from the 1992 edition of the OREGON TRADE TOKENS book. There could be more example known now and it may not actually be as rare as once thought to be.

NICE FIND!!

I have to California Kappen supplement book, and it has this one listed:

LAMBS CLUB / L / 107 6th ST. // GOOD FOR 2 1/2 Lc / IN TRADE A 21 bb (1 REPORTED)

"A" means Aluminum, Your's looks brass ??? ??? ???

excuse me if this is a stupid question, but what is bb after the millimeter and aluminum?

mike

Not stupid at all Mike

It means "BEADED BORDER" Referring to the beads around the outer edge.

I don't think the listing for Sacramento, CA is correct. With no disrespect to the late Charles Kappen who wrote the CA Supplement, he included a lot of "iffy" mavericks with questionable attributions and no references. The piece has been listed as Portland, OR for a long time and there are a number of varieties, plus the Hemphill book gives something of a reference - "restaurant - 1914-1918" - which presumably means he found directory listings.
