Went back to the site where I dug my capped bust dime, didnt dig much of anything at all. 3 flat buttons some bullets, and this buckle. Too bad it wasnt all there, would have been a sweet one. Why is it you dig so many buckle halves and can never dig the other half? Anyone tell me about what time period this is from? Im thinking late 1700's early 18's? Thanks for looking.

That is a Colonial shoe buckle frame. Is it silver? If so, a killer find! :headbang:

Looks to me like its silver plated. You can see a layer of silver on the front part, but the back is brass I think. Thanks Kirk!

A sweet find in my Colonial book. I would love to dig more shoe buckle frames.

Oh yeah always a welcome sight. Just wish I had as many whole one as I do halves.

Nice Buckle :o I would agree with Romeo on the date...late 16s- early 1700s :icon_thumleft:

Wow SS you realy think it dates back that far? Even earlier then I thought. :icon_thumright:

That would have been a beautiful buckle if complete, but congrats on finding anyway :icon_thumleft:. I would rather find half than nothing at all ;D.
