I have been hunting the same area for several weeks now. Today I decided to hunt the field that I decided a long time ago was undetectable because there was sooooooo much trash and iron. It was crazy! I ended up finding a fake mexican 8 reale, some bullets/musketballs, I believe two oil lamps??, suspender piece, several buttons, and some whats it items. Can anybody ID the button? I believe it is a button, but it is kind of thick. It says Washington Dee-Cee. Also, the lead looking object has some letters but I can't make them all out.

The button you want identified is off a pair of coveralls or bluejeans. They can be tricky to date. I have one that has the duckhead emblem on it that goes back to the 1850s. Yours has some age on it, just don't know how much.

Nice digs dude everything is very interesting and the buttons are fantastic too!

Nice job. Oil lamp stuff is cool too. jgas

now THATS what i'm talking about. way to go

The button is a popper

with that amount of old stuff there,Iam sure theres older coins hidden amongst the trash signal!

Those are some really old buttons mixed in with the newer (1890's) stuff. I'd stay there a while detecting. You'll get the old silver soon enough. Good hunting,

One good thing about trash; you know no one else has been there and/or worked the area the proper way. If it were me, I 'd begin working a grid pattern removing as much junk as I could; working one small area at a time. You won't find the good stuff without removing the clutter. It's obvious to me the area has potential. Great job on your finds!
