Ahh how nice to be out in the field, rather than at my desk today! xx

Mixed bag of finds today! First a tiny Fibula from Himself’s Roman patch, medieval belt loop, not sure what this next piece is, it’s chunky…. Back is slightly indented with sloping edges.. 🤔… 2 little tack pins, bits of buckles, lead bead, lead token and small lead weight, no idea about the next piece, musket balls, triangular lump, pot leg, bronze quarter bit, possible coin weight, buttons, George 2nd, George 3rd and 1875 and 1917 pennies.

Love the smell of autumn leaves and coal fires from the village, but alas the crop is coming up so our last hunt in these amazing fields now till after the harvest 🙁 still am sure we will find some more cool corners on the estate! xx

There's definitely some puzzlers in that bunch. Unfortunately, I don't have any answers.

That fibula kinda looks like a bull head. 8-)

Congrats!
Welly weather , per sky .

So many recoveries...Of so many realms.

Even a decorated tack. Decoration somehow still intact .

Winter wheat or rye maybe. One or two" tillers "and 4-5 leaves and it will survive winter. Yours looks like plenty of time but not too much..

Cover crops hold soil during off seasons.
And cover relics! Extending their rest another season.

Before the Romans arrived woth technical advancements those brooches where made from one single piece a highly skilled thing to do. The Roman influence saw an end to that and those fibula like the one pictured came I two parts. The Roman spring mechanism is missing on this one.

Nice haul there with lots of tantalising partefacts Blossom. In amongst them will still be some little treasures for sure
