I went out today in my old spot, just hoping to find something that a soldier had held 150 years ago, I was thinking this would be a good Memorial day to me, after about an hour, I only had the round ball, which I couldn't say was civil war for sure, so I went over to the last location I had found a few items at, first good signal, well great signal in my mind had me really excited, just knew it was a button, but after a 8 inches, I could see the back of a shotgun hull, next was a faint signal, same as before but fainter, it turned out to be a pretty flat Eagle cuff button, a few feet from that was the chewed up bullet, then about 20 yards up the gully I just knew I had another bullet signal, dug it, dug some more, and then dug a little more, didn't know what it was when I pulled it out, but after looking in my book, its a issued brass tompion, used to fit in the barrel when marching, and a foot from that was a bullet. I did manage to figure out that Deep woods off last about 3 hours of detecting lol, either that or when you start finding things.
So Memorial day for me, was a great one, as I hope it was for everyone.

Nice Relics-especially for Tennessee this time of year. The tompion is a real nice relic. WTG & HH, Quindy.

Nice finds Guy. That place is just giving up all kinds of finds.

Thanks everyone, and today was a little more special than most, I'm glad to see you made it back Randy, all these where within 20 yards of our last finds, can't wait to try it again with you soon.

Those Tompion's seem to elude me......Nice save's :icon_thumright:

Weeds are high in places, in the cedar thickets its pretty clear, and only got to hunt for about 10 minutes after most of the finds showed up, my bug spray failed lol, either that or the mesquitos just didn't care anymore, and my bald head is like a dinner plate to them

way to go guy nice stuff there.

LOL! :laughing9:

Since you started posting, I have always wondered about this. As you ride the rails as a Locomotive Engineer, do you often look out the window at the landscape and wonder about or spot potential sites with relics? HH, Quindy.

Get this Quindy.

Treasure hound and I were detecting a CW site a few weeks ago when T.H. gets a call to look over his shoulder. T.H calls me on the phone and say's , "Mike. wave to Guy!" All I hear is this loud train horn and Guy driving about 3 engines with a big load by us waving... That was pretty cool.
I envy him to be able to see the sights we don't get to see every day. He comes up with some good places to detect for sure.
