To Cover or not to Cover?

You won't lose any depth at all. I destroyed my 250 coil by banging it against rocks. It was chipped so back that you could see wire. I wrapped my new coil in strips of inner tube, duct taped on. It aint pretty, but it works.

AO,

Be safe, buy a cover. Not that much of
an expense and protects your machine.

"does it cut down the detection depth?"
Do you think anything you place between your
coil and the ground cuts down on depth?
I think so, but it is minimal with a cover.

have a good un..............

Yup, wrap that rascal! Covers are cheap protection. Just make sure that you take it off from time to time and clean your coil. If water gets in between the two, it can get moldy and start to smell bad. Don't ask me how I know this... ::)

Always...always use a coil cover...I went through about 4 or 5 with my Shite's Spectrum and I've had that detector for 16 years and it still works great,

Wouldn't leave home without one.Know of several that won't use them, but i always do just to be safe. How much depth could you plssibly loose?Put the cover on and scrub it to the ground and dig all the good stuff....jmoho......rh

I took everyones advice :) and purchased a cover and have been using it for a day or so.....doesn't effect depth at all and works great.....attaches really tight.

Just Remember, Take it off & clean it out every once in awhile.

If used in Salt water, Wash it Every Night, (when salt water Dries,
it could leave a film)

no matter how tight or even if sealed with Glue. Something will Eventually work its way in. Guaranteed.

It's still the best investment you made.
