Hammond turner & Sons-1823 -1865 page 465 in "Record of American Uniform and Historical Buttons" by Alphaeus H. Alberts,1977 edition.I believe it could be a Mfg in Birmingham,Eng;and.
William Wallis,1800-1828,also on page 465

Butoon like those were commonly used by the Confederate Army.They were also used by Union forces as replacements for uniform buttons. Dealers I have talked to usually sell them for $1.00 a piece. They are pretty common in North Alabama I've got a quart jar full of them all different sizes but still a good find.
