I read somewhere on here that some people had problems when they wore steel toe boots and didn't realize they were giving them false readings on their detectors.
I have a titanium rod in my leg from a bad accident about 6yrs ago. See I was skydiving.....JK :D, I was walking over this mound of dirt about 3ft high (REALLY, and yes I'm a cluts and blonde to boot!!!) :-[
Anyway it got me wondering, even though I have been thru many metal detectors in buildings and at the airport and it has never set any of these detectors off, would it set off my detector?
The answer is yes, I (or my leg) gives me a 0 to 4 foil reading! Damn I hope they didn't really put foil in there, knowing me, I might just break that again!!
Just thought I would share what I found today ;D ;D ;D ;D

I got those rods in both femurs from a fall from a dirt bike 13 years ago! My detector reads penny-dime. When I use my 15 inch coil and when I am on my knees digging it sets my machine off like crazy. Can be aggravating at times. Mine do not alert the detectors at the airport either. Scary huh? Thats a lot of metal not to set that off.

The rod in my left leg broke a year to the day after my accident and I had to start rehab all over again on that leg. I was off work 2 years. What a drag! I went to physical therapy (physical terrorist) countless times and I got to a point where it was not helping anymore. Thats when I got my detector out and started to hunt again then my legs came back to life. It would take me 15 minutes to recover a target but it made me stronger. I was determined to find a silver coin and finally I did. I was so happy because at one point I did not think I would ever be able to dig again.

When I got out of the hospital at the time I had a subscription to a treasure hunting magazine. On the cover of the first issue I got after the wreck it had a man in a wheelchair with a detector in hand. I thought that was going to be me!

I was in a rock-climbing fall in 1993, and my cortez picks up the rod perfectly, I don't remember what it read it at tho'. Oh, left femur, in case you're wondering.

A couple of years ago, our family was adopted by two cats-they just showed up one day, fully grown and looking for some food. We took them into our home and now, we are theirs ;D

One day a few weeks ago, my 9 year old and I were playing around with my MD when one of the cats started rubbing himself against our legs. I ran the detector over him, and lo and behold, I hit silver! I'm guessing that he had an accident a while back and has a screw or rod in his shoulder area.

My daughter is very curious about what kind of treasure might be hidden within the cat (think Maltese Falcon here)I'm hoping that I'm not going to discover her dissecting "Fluffy" in her bedroom. ;D

I've had 6 operations on my back in about the past 5 years. 2 fusions, an internal bone stimultor (now out), 6 screws, 3 rods and a cage...all Titanium!
My stepson gets a kick out of running my ACE250 over my back and getting a tone..haha! My doctor gave me a card I have to carry on me everywhere I go in case I set off a metal detector...at least I have proof that I'm not hiding anything.
I was wondering, is titanium worth anything? Could I recycle the titanium battery that was in my back???..haha!

my girlfreind has a T pins/screws in her toe and ankle
with my detector at foil they ring loud a hair higher they drop off

H Gal, and you other clumsy louts. The metal should give no problems, just work further away, and when it is necessary (?) to work near the metal, work in parallel swings, i.e. keep it the same distance from your boo boo metal. Actually no different than working near re-bar or a wire fence. Just keep your signal at a steady level and have fun.

p.s. My only problem is how do I work with this hole in the head? keeps indicating a void sigh.

Shaddup!

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem................Uhhhh ok maybe not glad!
I FEEL YOUR PAIN :'(
