Here is another odd item I fold in a farm field where some colonial era houses stood and were occupied at least through the early 20th century. Slightly bigger than a quarter with a nickel-plated back, this appears to be a token or necklace (has a hole for a string or chain) and a date of 1911 (Titanic sank on her maiden voyage April 1912) but she was launched from Belfast in 1911. I cannot find any trace of this item online using Google image or picture search or any of the Titanic websites. Thanks!

Andy,

Very nice and unique find. I would recommend putting some time into determining what it is. Items associated with the Titanic go for some extremely high prices. Yes, the vast majority are associated with the fatal voyage though period items associated with the ship also go for some high prices. Additionally, it isn’t beyond impossible that your item could have been on the Titanic when it went down and was on one of the passengers rescued or recovered. So yes, if me, I would put some time into figuring out what you might have. I would think one of the museums tied to the Titanic could assist you in determining what you have. I understand there is a museum focused on the Titanic in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee of all places. Good luck with your hunts. Walt

I don't know what it is, check the Belfast links, it may be something a vendor was selling
on launch day, it was launched on May 31, 1911, and by accounts 100k was there

forgot a link

I did look up all Maryland residents who were aboard and none of them lived on the Eastern Shore, so back to square one on that. I always wanted to go to Dollywood.... thanks!

That's a really cool recovery, hope someone will shed some light on the history, if it's actually from that maiden voyage, or a souvenir made after.
