Hi Gang,

This is the tiniest button I've ever found.

Good amount of gilt left.

The dime and the button to the right are to scale.

I found a military button on Veteran's Day! How cool is that?!

Happy Hunting,

Re: TINY Scoville Superior Button

Finally found some older Tnet posts.

It looks like this Scovills backmark dates it from 1827-1840...which fits the time frame of this site.

It is a Jacksonian era button.

Attached a photo of one of mine, (many variants) measures 12.5mm yes, tiny

Don

Thanks Don & Dman!

Because of the eagle w/shield, arrows and olive branch - would that make this button Federal/Militia?

I still have a lot to learn about buttons.

Thanks,

Neither, its not Military, more early Patriotic Civilian Fashion. Although it may have caught the eye of a Military family

Thanks Crusader. Because the motif is so similar to American Civil War buttons, I assumed it was military.
6 months ago on this same site I found two Federal/Militia Rifleman's buttons, an Eagle I button, numerous flat and tombacks - all together, nearly 40 buttons dating 1800-1865.
As I stated in an earlier post, I have a lot to learn about buttons.

Thanks again,
