✅ SOLVED Tiny ornate buckle

Got this today out digging in the snow at cellar hole here in central MA...Got a KG here last time and cellar hole not on maps so feel at least a very early 1800s site...is this a garter/stocking buckle and if so why so ornate if no one sees it?Also didnt notice before posting on here and enlarging but appears to have been silver plated

Yup, I believe you are right on that ID.
Good find!
I found this one next to a one-room schoolhouse, over last weekend.
It is likely brass, but a bit larger, an inch wide.
A person just doesn't find such an item every day, huh?
