I was finishing up my morning 2 hour water hunt by detecting the shallow water and got a good strong signal with my Tiger Shark, which is amazing at finding tiny gold. I knew what I had as soon as I saw the snake design and the beautiful color in my scoop. This .9 gram tiny piece is the distinctive clasp of Thai 24k jewelry. We have a large Asian population in our community and I have in the past found two full 24k necklaces and one 24k pendant for a necklace. Needless to say I spent my remaining time trying to find the necklace itself without luck but this little piece made my morning anyway.

The paperclip is for size reference. If you look close at the clasp you can see the 24k mark.

Now Go find the rest of it! (It would have to be there somewhere?) Have I said, I love Gooooold! ?

Great start, the rest is waiting to be found. But a little gold is always good! Congrats!:icon_thumright:

Boy glad that didn't go through your scoop.

sweet gold, should be pretty soft, easy to bend I would think so the rest of it may be around somewhere or maybe you already found that part before? Exciting is almost not enough to describe the rush is it?

Me too. I have added extra screens to my scoop to catch small things like stud earrings but stuff does fall through.

Finding thin gold chain is really difficult. Unless it's puddled up or has a pendant, detectors have a hard time picking it up.

Any gold is beautiful but 24k is stunning and the rush is what it is all about. This lake is very heavily hunted and sometimes in two hours I may only get a couple of hits. So actually any good signal is itself a rush.

These Thai pieces are only held together by this very bendable clasp, and solid gold is weighty so it should have dropped somewhere near the clasp. But if the chain is very fine or it ended up too far down in the light sand even my Tiger Shark may not be able to pick it up.

Need to borrow a minelab They love gold as much as I do!!

great going we all need some good finds now and then we work hard enough for it.hope you find the necklace

Congrats on your find! Thanks for the idea on the scoop! I'm going to add some to mine too as I worried about small things falling through.

Wow - that makes me excited to get out hunting this weekend! Beautiful find of sweet gold! Congrats!! :occasion14:
