I went back to the strip of woods where I had found some Barbers last week. No Barbers today, but I did find three pieces of silver. Last time I searched to the right in the woods. Today I went to the left. After I trudged through the woods for about a hundred yards I noticed a big tent was set up in there with alot of equipment around it some 50 yards further down. This was right in the spot that I had wanted to hunt. Hard to believe someone is living in the woods, as cold as it's been the last couple of weeks. Anyway, I turned around and resumed hunting in the direction I had come, not wanting to disturb whomever may have been in the tent. The first good target I came upon gave me a nice, big, silver signal. From about two inches down a nice, big, silver ring popped up. It's got a gold shield on it saying PONTIAC SERVICE CRAFTSMAN with the trademark head of Chief Pontiac on it. Next I got a sweet silver signal three inches deep next to a tree root. Turned out to be a nice 1939 Mercury Dime.
Also, when I was getting my stuff out of the back of the car, I noticed the outline of something silver laying in the bare frozen dirt. Picked it up and rubbed it off. Lo and behold it was a little, round do-dad that says sterling silver on it. No idea what it is. Maybe the cap off of a button or something.
Hears a head on view of the ring:
Side view:
Inside view, It says STER and L G B inside. Anybody have any idea what L G B stands for? Hoping it has something to do with gold.
Next comes the Merc:
And here's the little, sterling do-dad: (Any ideas on it would be appreciated also)
Thanks for looking.
