Back at the old bar which our church bought several years ago, I did some more cleanup and have netted $7 in coin in two days. Yesterday, I posted a picture of a 52D Franklin Half and a beautiful Baby Ruth sign that were my reward. I found enough wheats yesterday, and more today, to suspect that there might be a Merc or two as well. Some of the coins are easy eyeball finds and are obviously modern. Others are dirty and you don't know a date until a bit of cleaning. Still others got swept into a large garbage can full of dirt/debris for some late afternoon sifting. I don't know for certain which of the three methods these Mercs were rescued with; what I do know is that they're sitting on my desk. They're 1934, 44D and 45. This place is pretty hard on silver, as you can see from the picture. While filling buckets with debris from the basement (swept down from the bar area above), I came across another Baby Ruth sign; this one was mangled, not nearly as nice as the one I posted yesterday, but I'll straighten it and show it a little more respect. We took a break from the bar and briefly explored two old houses next door that the church also bought; one is filled with old records and wooden jukeboxes! I'll be going through that mess before the houses are demolished, possibly in the next few weeks. I did salvage some Glenn Miller records while in there today.
