Found this at a multigenerational home site. Threaded at both ends, outer threads on one end and inner threads on the other.

Yep, definitely looks like an ornate elbow gas fixture. Either to a gaslight as has been suggested already, an old gas stove, or some sort of elbow fixture to one of them newfangled gas fireplaces. Being as ornate as it is, it's probably very old. Newer fixtures are usually very plain.
