Thoughts on the Pioneer 101 wal-mart special

just thought I'd update this thread. Since buying the 101 I sold my Dfx And bought 2 Ace 250s one fer me and one for the boss and as my backup. So the other day my son challenges me to a contest at the local school, who can find the most money in 1 hour. my 250 against him and the 101. I won $2.63 but not by much His take was $2.44. This intrigued me,in how could he have done that well against my experience and a better deeper machine to boot. So I took the 101 out for a test spin, I went right back over the same ground that I had covered with the 250. Not only did I find more coins but the 101 was reaching pretty much the same depths as my 250. Most coins coming in in the 2-5 inch range. Wow what an eye opener, for all you people who keep extolling the virtues of a $1000 dollar machine, eat my shorts. For what I originally paid for the Whites DFX I could have bought about ten of these little beauties and have found just as much, oh I know your machine will reach 18 into the ground but have you ever really tried digging that deep. Besides while your digging 18 inches to retrieve what may or may not be a merc dime I'll have recovered tons of clad as well as some jewelery. :D ;D ;)

P.S. I am still using my 250 for coin shooting but my BH 101 just became my favorite beach and jewelery machine.....

Another satisfied customer.

Here's the deal MD Dog... BH Truths:

* They cost less because they sell in volume - huge volume
* Huge volume means a few more lemons
-- so you'll here about more problems as well
* It's lite... It's easy... but it ain't no toy.
* "Less expensive" does not always equal "cheap"
* It's hard to fathom a less-expensive machine doing the same work.
* The Ace 150 / 250 are Garrett's answer to "less expensive"

BTW zesty, I don't even need no 4 inch coil cause the thing is perfectly centered in the window for pinpointing. Like I said this little thing has blown my mind. And light, man it makes even my 250 feel like a heavy weight.

Hey, Montana, just caught your "just retired" caption. We're in the same boat! Too bad nobody will hire us to Detect. But then it would become work and ruin it for us.
