Thoughts on drug advertising commercials.

Only advice i can add to this thread is....
Don't buy into / be fooled by big money scientifically designed slick marketing...
They want you to run to your doctor and become a customer... this IS the end goal.
For... The first and foremost real cure they are really seeking at the end of the day...
is for themselves and the shareholders.
What scares me is... I know... And you should know...
There is no real long term money in "curing" anything.
Believe this...
Their real money is made in the product loop long term with insurance cards in hand...
Just like a house mortgage its a body mortgage game... with long term payments the ideal scenario.
Real goals in this game can be more about the numbers... and not necessarily the cure.

Some need to be on their products in order to live normal lives... or to even live at all.
These are unavoidable instances for many where the choice is clear.
I am not talking about those ... those drugs dont need pushing... they sell themselves and dont need ads.

While i wrote this.... i saw at least 10 pill commercials.

I will add that Florida is a huge marketplace for pills.
Along with insurance ads they rule the airwaves.
Its annoying and ridiculous.

They are not paying for the consumer to see there ads. They are paying/bribing the stations not to do news segments on the side effects and billions of dollars they pay in fines. Something like 2/3 of all prescription meds are eventually recalled due to side effects etc.

Well I guess that's where my problem is.... I don't want to go to my Doctor and ask about any drug ever. I'm paying him/her to listen to me in person and then prescribe a possible needed drug and any side effects. Not the other way around. I bet your right about ad's driving up drug

I just read every post, and nobody mentioned the one of the biggest incentives regarding prescriptions.

THE KICKBACKS TO THE DOCTORS.

They get end of year bonuses for fulfilling the Vaccinations for children.
From birth to end of school.

They get holidays paid for by big Pharma.
Cancer treatment is the worse for these paid incentives.

Yes some medications are necessary as antibiotics, pain, and other lifesaving medications.

But most are produced for the people that don't take responsibility for their own health.
Excessive eating of factory produced shit, fast food, sugar, seed oils.
Limited exercise (thumbs 💪 from texting).
Statin drugs to lower cholesterol is one of the worse drugs made.

But let's not fool ourselves here folks.
The magic 💊 then everyone can carry on like they did before.

I laugh inside when I hear-Oh I don't have a problem because I take X 💊.
WTF! Of course you have a problem you dumb shit, I'm thinking.

But it's not my body, but I see folks getting a chemical cocktails to carry on an unhealthy lifestyle.

I was just wondering if I was the only one or there are others who DO NOT LIKE seeing drug companies advertising to the general public. Outside of premium viewing on my TV it seems a large majority of the 1 minute ads are drug companies advertisements. We all watch normal people doing normal things all the while listening to all the ailments they all suffer from. The first 30 seconds are all the ailments. The next 30 seconds are all side effects. But the real kicker that always gets on my nerves is at the end of each commercial the speaker always says.... "Ask your Doctor if (this shit) is right for you"...!

Now the drug companies want you to sort through your ailments, listen to them, than YOU solicit the Doctor if their drug is right for you. And there's where I draw the line. When I go to the Doctor I'll tell him the ailments and/or problem and I'll trust him/her to prescribe a drug if needed. I'm paying the Doctor to do this and I'll be damned if I'm going to ask or suggest a drug off a TV commercial. The drug company is suggesting you diagnosis yourself and inquire. That just seems so backwards and unprofessional to me.

How are they allowed to peddle their prescribed drugs on TV to people who can't access them except through their dealer / Doctor. But it's legal obviously.
Next will be cocaine, heroin and crack manufacturers advertising and urging you to ask your dealer if they have this drug and if it's right for YOU. End of rant.

Hard to imagine people actually PAYING to watch that depressing slop.

You supposed to pay to not have to endure that.

I dropped satellite/cable many years ago, not because I could not afford it, but because of the negative exposure I was basically buying that was quietly influencing our lives.

Not a wildly popular move as far as my kids were concerned, but that’s the way it was.

It’s an eye opener now to sit down at friends houses and watch tv. Garbage programming. Be it adds or xual propaganda.

You must have grown up with color TV. I’m not old at all and I distinctly remember our first TV from the dump and my dad turning the antenna while we yelled at him from the front yard about the picture. A 12”…well probably a 14” black and white. Holy cow, cartoons on Sat.!! Not color like in town but shoot.

I think he was impressed considering he was raised listening to radio due to the remote mountains.

BINGO! We have a winner here! When my late father became ill, I had to manage his checking account and pay his bills for him. One bill was $180 a month. I asked him about it and he said it was a prescription to help his upset stomach! His doctor "recommended" it instead of him taking a few Tums or Rolaids every day. No doubt in my mind his doctor was getting a kickback on that deal. There's no way a pill for an upset stomach should cost six bucks a day! Total scam!

How about all the ridiculous side effects they list for almost every pill they advertise? Got a skin rash? Take this pill! Warning: Possible side effects include explosive diarrhea, constipation, vomiting, heart attack, stroke, blindness, paralysis or death! No thanks, I'll stick with my skin rash!

In the 70's and 80's i was a chemist for the Upjohn company in Kalamazoo Michigan. Some facts that drove the prices up were , Creating the drugs. When we would create a new drug we had to have someone fly to the FDA and go through all kinds decisions and explain the process's , The ingredients and anything else to get them approved to be sold to the public. making most drugs was not the initial cost. Going through all the administrations to get there permissions to sell and to create them is unbelieveable. These are just a few examples of what makes the medicines so expensive

Drug commercials are just the worst....and I agree with Tim. Once you actually listen to the potential side effects you'll think twice about putting it into your body, not to mention what it'll cost you.

I have a sleep disorder commonly known as Non-24, and while there is a medication available, it's over $6000 a month. Asked my doc about it, and she says the stuff is nothing more than glorified Melatonin.

We watch streaming TV. No medical adds. My wife had cancer. Her friend had cancer at 48 and Drs tried so hard to kill her she wrote a book which just came out on Amazon.

Cancer is the biggest business going.
