Found in a junk drawer at an estate sale. Before I took the top off of this piece I figured it was a medium sized lipstick tube. Mainly because both ends have a gold metal flake design. It's brass and measures 2 5/8" long by 7/8" in diameter. The surprise comes when you take off the cap and a multi-spiked end appears. They are steel (stick to a magnet). Kind of resembles one of those lead spiked flower frogs. No moving parts. Any ideas?

Pretty sure it isn't medical related but I could be wrong. I think it's a tool.

The points are sharp but not really sharp enough to break the skin unless you apply an unusual amount of force or use a hammer, lol. The gold metal flake ends are what's throwing me off, makes you think not medical or tool.
