i bought six boxes of dimes this week which yielded only six dimes! However i found about fifteen dollars in canadien dimes!! I tried to sneek them through the coin machine at my bank but i reached the discrimination limit on the machine twice . the girl at the bank was not happy with me :unhappysmiley: But when i got my money back the teller gave me a 1943-p war nickel ! I said to her "cool you gave me a war nickel " and she said whats that ,when i tried to explain where the mint mark is she said "whats monticello"?

Tanz - you told her what a war nickel is? Careful, you are treading in deep water. Next, she will ask why you have so many dimes, then ask why you call her every 2 days asking for halves... Before you know it she will be cherry-picking all of your silver. Oh wait, did you say she doesn't know what Monticello is? Never mind - you're good!

i have the same problem here with Canadian coin. Grant it I am in Washington State and expect to see more but I was at a my local Chase bank and they told me they now accept and use Canadian coin as legal US tender. I could not believe it when they told me this. Then a few week later I am in there again and the bank head Manager was at the cash window rolling Canadian pennies. I am glad I only dump at chase and not pick up. I average 1 roll per box of pennies in Canadian and 6-8 in dime per box, 2-3 in quarters per box.

I would of loved all that canandian.

I got a 44D war nickel at work in the casino cage. I tell people in the cage about war nickels. I tell them that they are black and about the mint mark. They might start looking for them and keeping them for themselves.

That is strange. You'd think it would be more like 15,000 dimes. I think you got a couple short rolls.

Unless you are talking about the hockey team the Montreal Canadiens I would appreciate it if you spelled Canadian properly. You may not know but generally speaking Canadians don't like Canadiens (People from Quebec).

Canadians are my friends especially when they are silver like my 3 recent finds

sorry i live about 2 hours from quebec so im used to canadien

I do not see what your problem is... Canadian money is now worth more than the US money... heck, take the difference and run.

Up here, we get US dimes all the time in our rolls.... we just use them interchangeably... never a problem

Exactly! Except I've been keeping the Canadian money I find and putting it aside. I'm holding on to it. I'm not sure why but it seems like a good idea somehow :)

You know, it feels good when I find silver Rosie dime in my dime box. I think any Canadian silver coinage is kept by southern friends if they come around them. SO there is no point of arguing, last time while searching pennies, I've came around with 10$ out of 25$ box of American coinage. However I got 4 wheats this way. So no complains.

I keep all canadian/foreign coinage I come across, I have quite a pile of mostly canadian pennies averaging 12 per box.

Well, that is just nothing compared to the loads of Lincolns I find in one box.
Especially keep the young queen and King George VI ones, those are more valuable.

You are in NY, so you have a chance of spending them in Canada.
