Thomas Jefferson

The judicial exists to keep the other branches of government in line with the constitution. They, if they perform their jobs judiciously, will keep people like Feinstein from forcing her ideas of how we should live, and Bloomberg's ideas and the rest of the screwballs from infringing on any of our rights. My rights outweigh other's rights in that mine are written and guaranteed. Folks need to learn to live with me exercising any right I care to exercise.

Once upon a time, a long time ago, I considered law school. Not so that I could be a lawyer and pass the bar. And I certainly didn't want to be a parasite, as they even existed then.

Yet I wanted the knowledge.

Now I'm grown up and I don't want that knowledge = pftuie!

And Crispin! I like your thoughts, but I'm disappointed in that post of yours....

Crispin simply seeks facts instead of lies.

If you peel back the layers of the onion far enough you will be amazed at what you will find.

I was not making a comment on the content of the quote. I actually quite like the content of the quote and agree with it. When I looked into the source of the quote it became obvious that Thomas Jefferson never said that. That was my whole point. Now if the question had been this:

""The greatest danger to american freedom is a government that ignores the constitution"." -anonymous

Then my response would have been this:

"A government that ignores the constitution and freedoms of its people needs to fear the people it governs. When a government ignores its constitution the people are no longer loyal to the government and have the duty to replace it with a government that will not ignore its constitution." -- Crispin 6/5/13

Now do you see what I was getting at?

I have no idea what you are talking about. You obviously suffer from some sort of low self esteem if you are always concerned about people's intelligence and bringing people down a notch. Maybe why you have a gun? Feel empowered?

The judicial branch was not created to keep any other branch in line. It was created to interpret laws and settle differences. It was John Marshall who redefined the role of the Judicial Branch in a couple of very famous supreme court cases(Marbury v. Madison and McCulloch v. Maryland). He literally helped make the courts a powerful force, nay, the powerful force in American government...

Nullify- I hate that term TH. Jefferson pretty much championed the idea of Nullification of any federal law by the states, but it sure led to some problems down the line with folks like Calhoun in S.C. Agree with you, but I think we may be in the minority?

Off topic post deleted.

onfire, not only is your comment quite rude but it is also completely false.

The whole point in posting this quote was to illustrate that PEOPLE WILL BELIEVE ANYTHING. I knew the quote was bogus all along, Crispin was the only one to point it out.

But hey, thanks for the insult...
