This September I am taking the PM Gods back to school. EE's monthly thread

Could not really think of much for this month, been busy, as you can read in my log and rather preoccupied with a large purchase.

9-3
--------------------------

Did 2 boxes of halves today

Box 1: 2/40%
Box 2: 1/40%

--------------------------
9-6
--------------------------

Five boxes of halves done today.

Box 1: 1/40% - 1/Walker - 1/Franklin
Box 2: Skunked
Box 3: Skunked
Box 4: Skunked
Box 5: Skunked

1 roll of CWR Quarters - Skunked

At one of my dump banks, I saw about 10-15 rolls, somewhat old and taped shut ripped open, had to have gone through the machine. Oh well.. who knows what goodies could Have been found.

On a side note, I am starting to think that perhaps my favorite teller might be interested.. too many things point to that but I could be wrong.. usually am.

Todays auction was a bust

---------------------------
9-7
---------------------------

Dumped $1000 in halves, still no nickels or dimes for me.. making me a little depressed.

Auction was a bust, garage sales on the other hand, paid out a little.

14k Shaeffer Pen, paid $2 for it. (0.0169)

Picked up 4 Colombian Expo halves from a local antique store for $10 ea, he had been holding them for me for almost 4 months lol. ($40.00/1.4468)

----------------------------
9-8
----------------------------

Vlad and I feared this auction would be bad but it turned out quite well for both of us. The dental gold the auctioneer didnt want to touch, in fact she gasped when she saw it and no one else wanted it and I offered one buck, they took it without even asking anyone else, just said SOLD! I scooped it right up bare handed and was quite giddy.

The 10k high school ring I simply love, the style of it is beyond awesome, reminds me of the 50's I didnt grow up in.

Picked up a coin, not sure if its legit or not but I figured I scored well so far, I will risk the $3 on it. I am almost certain its a Spanish Reale. The late owner of the estate had lots of Spanish stuff up, he was a collector so I guess its possible its real. I will take it down to the coin shop and have them check it out.

I have an interesting little pin I picked up. On the front its got N AU Dames on it with a big O and an arrow

On the back it has J.A.S and below that K.U 54, it is unmarked otherwise, though it has the color and patina of 10k.

It tests 10k but I dont want to file it to test to see if its plated, I would like to sell it on Ebay if at all possible, its an old piece.

14k cuff links ($1.00/0.1237)
10k Socony pin ($1.00/0.0255)
14K Necklace with Opal ($20.00/0.0150)
14k pin ($30.00/0.0337)
10k 1952 High school Ring ($60.00/0.1475)
17k Dental Gold ($1.00/0.0865)

And for the good news, or at least it is good for now at least to the point of the underwriter saying NO.

In the middle of the loan process of buying my first home. Will be nice to have a space specifically for my coins and such. Living in a small studio isnt the best and it will be awesome to expand into a 1300 SF home with 2 car garage and work shop on a quarter acre. Not sure yet how this will impact my CRH or Auctions. I might have to sell some of my finds to buy a riding mower because its too much to push mow, not to mention I dont own a mower, my landlord pays for landscaping.

Its about time you got this thread started EE. Its by far my favorite

Thank you, its nice to hear someone enjoys it.

Instead of posting each day I find something, I figured I would save up a little and make a larger post since I know they take up a bit of space with all the numbers.

Fridays auction appears to have coins, since they listed them but I dont know if anything else of any value will be there. They list no silver but that means nothing. I have not scored anything from that auction in over a month so hopefully things pick up.

I have not decided on any auctions for Saturday or Sunday, there are quite a few to pick from so I will be deciding later in the week, the next post will likely be on Sunday after all the CRH and auctions are finished.

I enjoy it too EE, I do still catch up on your threads when I can, I'm still here reading them. HH, Maverick.

Very, very true.

She makes an effort to help me, even so much as to wait at the teller window helping the cars, looking back over and over as others get helped by the other tellers until I come up and then she moves to help me.

She said happy birthday to me which she should not have know, unless of course she looked at my account info.

and

Long story short, she commented that she liked that I knew her name and gave me that coy smile that made me want to put my stuff in her stuff.

It all started one day when I came into the bank very tired, it was the day after Valentines Day, she asked why I was so tired, was I up celebrating all night and I laughed and said no. I didnt want to say I worked a 12 hour shift and then went fishing all night and had less than 2 hours sleep so I sort of lied about a past experience, I told her that I had helped a friend move out of the house of a abusive boyfriend and it took most of the night to do, she then went, " Awwww that is so sweet. " and has basically been super attentive ever since.

But...

She is about 24 years old, there-a-bouts and I am nearing the 40 mark. Although I do have a personal rule of 18-23 years old max, I would break that rule for her but I could be very wrong and just seeing what I want to see, like the Pegasus playing a keytar under a rainbow alongside Elvis and Freddie Mercury, what I am seeing might not really be there and acknowledging it could be detremental to my health.

LMAO!

This is a good thead EE - Thanks.

the tooth picture is Gnarly! but love that dental gold

wow that is nasty, but great for a buck!

My uncle is an oral surgeon. My whole life he has always had jars of teeth in his office that he has pulled and saves to donate to the dental college for research purposes. He has also often had jars of gold teeth at his office as well. A few years back he gave my sister a few to get enough gold for some custom jewelry she was getting made. Now that I think of it it's kinda weird my sister would agree to that. Anyways, jeweler melted the teeth in with the other gold my sister had. The teeth were bad or fake gold or something like that and apparently ruined the rest of her gold for jewelry purposes. Moral of the story, there are a lot of fake gold teeth out there.

pretty sadistic

EDIT: I found a video of him. You can't pay for gold teeth, then you get them repossessed.

(Please note, there are two swear words, but I don't think they are that bad, considering they are used lightly like they are on TV, if this is against the rules, please remove it or tell me so I can remove it)

Bank 1 forgot to order my halves so I am down 3 boxes this last week

Bank 2 ordered my 3 and they were....

Box 1: Skunked
Box 2: Skunked
Box 3: Skunked

Nothing to be purchased at the auction but I did sell 745 40% halves for $4 ea. I gave Vlad the Ukrainian $140 for hooking me up with the buyer.
I walked away with $2840 on a $372.50 investment. I am currently down 110.1855 oz but I am going to use most of the money received to buy a 100 oz bar
within the next week or two. Waiting to see if the market drops more like I expect it to.

I also purchased 8 pounds of foreign coins from Vlad for $3 a pound to resell for $4 a pound. I pulled out a Silver Canadian quarter and a silver peso so far.
I also pulled out $10 worth of Canadian coinage.

1 - 1960 Mexican Peso (0.0514)
1 - Quarter 50% 1967-68 (0.0975)

Got a wild hair up my butt, woke at 4am, was out the door by 4:45am and headed to Illinois for an auction that was 4 hours away. Picked up Vlad along the way.
At first things looked good, no competition and then we see him... gold and diamond ring, gold bracelet, gold necklace.. its another Ukrainian and he is there
to buy gold and silver just like us. Needless to say, Yuri goes away frustrated.

Most items were purchased to be resold so I paid a bit more than melt for them since I know I can at the very least double my money on them.

Went to one auction. Let someone else get the deal of the day since she really needed the help today, she got about $500 in gold for $18 or so.
She ended up giving me a couple pins I was interested in that was in the lot that I let her get as thanks since she did so well. Both were 10k.

I wont be able to tally up all the gold filled I got, got a small box full, about 15 full watches etc that I have to part out and that will take some time,
I will likely hold those off until the winter when I have less auctions to do and more time on my hands.

So I spent $12 today, snatched up a small handful of gold, not a whole lot and a single silver rosie, a sterling earring and some necklaces as well.

Not a bad day, could have been better had one lady not shown up but she paid through the nose for her two items, I hope she enjoys them.

I managed to score.

1909 no mint mark non VDB Penny laying on the ground outside the house.

Sterling Napkin Ring ($1.00/0.2766)

PArt 2 of the auction proceeded to disappoint me. They took forever to get to the silver. They were supposed to bring more down but didnt. I did give the
family of the lady who died my business card and she said she will call me when they decided on the last of the silver and jewelry.

I didnt get to stay to the end of it, there was an unmarked 14k ring and some sterling rings along with a silver rosie and quarter but it was a 2 1/2 hour
trip home and after a 6+ hour round trip the day before and work on Monday, I needed to go.

I managed to score

Sterling candle Sticks ($7.00/1.6149)
Sterling 6 small S&P Shakers($2.00/0.2647)
Sterling spoon ($2.00/0.3700)
Coin Silver pendant with weird stone($2.00/0.0723)
Sterling Broach/Pendant. ($1.00/0.2970)

12k locket ($1.50/0.0053)
14k black gold ring with rose Size 6 ($3.00/0.0225)

Friday appears to be the mother lode. About $3,000 worth of silver at this auction. Vlad the Ukrainain and I are going to split up the auction. I get the flatware and 1 bowl, he gets the rest. I am looking at approx 64 oz worth of silver from this auction and as far as I know per the auctioneer I am the only one to inspect the silver so we will see how it goes.

And the auction that starts at 9am may or may not have anything but at 1pm there is a coin auction there and it has a few things I want, mainly the roll of silver quarters.

We will see how Friday and Saturday goes, I may have no money left at that point. I have a little over $3600 to play with right now and I get paid on Friday bringing my total to $4200. I still have $2000 from the halves I sold and Have turned $875 of that money into $1950 so I am doing alright. Hope to turn the $2000 I have left into $4500 more so I can do it all over again.

HH

Its slightly better than that, working on the numbers now.. a lot to write down and I am going through about 2 pounds of foreign coins from todays auction.

9-27
----------

Starting off the weekend with 6 boxes of halves.

Box 1: 3/40% - 1/90%
Box 2: Skunked
Box 3: Skunked
Box 4: Skunked
Box 5: Skunked
Box 6: Skunked

87 rolls of CWR Dimes : 1 Rosie
58 rolls of CWR Nickels: 3 War Nickels - 1 Dateless Buff

Dump my halves, find a war nickel in the reject chute.

Go turn in my ticket to my favorite teller..I needs to know her better.

Turn in another $1000 in halves to another dump bank, machine breaks a couple times and set me on a path of being later than normal to the auction.

Vlad the Ukrainian shows up to the auction. First item of sterling that goes up to bid is a small bowl that supposedly has 'history' as once being a
nut bowl for Elenore Roosevelt. I got it for $10, weighs out to about $40

Vlad and I split up the items at the auction, he gets all the rest of the hollow ware while I get the flatware set. He proceeds to pick up about 31 oz
of silver combined for $103. Nothing was bringing a high price.

Finally get to my flatware set.I notice someone put a absentee bid on it, it starts at $500, I shoot it to $600, it goes up to 7, 8, $900 a
nd I bring it to $975 winning the set.

I also win a little 14k pin that weighs 1.6 grams

I buy some gold filled off Vlad the Ukrainian

9-28
-------------------------

While getting gas and soda for the auction and receiving my change I spy some halves in the drawer and ask for them, I get a single 40% half.

I go to part 1 of the local estate auction. I know gold will be hard to find since the guy throwing the auction had brought a handful of it to the local coin
shop and sold it to them. Needless to say, I still found plenty in the form of small gold and it paid out handsomely.

I have a small bag with 3 watches I won as well but since I am not doing anything with watches at the moment I am not factoring them in. They will go in the box
with all the other gold filled watches and 14k watches for the winter so I can figure out if I will part them out and scrap them out and or sell them on Ebay.

While at this auction I heard a rumor from a friend who said someone who was interested in the flatware set but didnt have the money to play said they googled some
of the patterns and came up with 3 pieces that were rather rare. They had told her that 2 spoons in the set that were not part of the sets pattern were worth approx
$550-$650 ea and another spoon in the set should fetch $350-$450 and possibly higher. Not sure how much faith I can place on that but I planned on searching all the
patterns and piecing out the extras on Ebay anyways so I should hopefully find out when I have some time. Could be this winter before I have free time, I have another
full weekend of auction next weekend and the rest of October is still up in the air. Rest, who needs rest!?
