I agree, it looks old, my guess is 1930's or 40's?

Found out that his Dad gave it to him as a graduation gift and he and a few friends spent and hour or so picking up rocks in the water looking for it said that his heart sunk when he lost it. Funny thing he said is "at least your an honest person and not some scumbag that was gonna sell it"I then told him i think most of us that detect would have returned it though,but i did tell him i weighed it and it was $185 in scrap and laughed then we said our goodbyes and left.
