Tried a pasture field today where the farmer said on old cottage once stood. Think the farmer was correct, although the main part of the building was the other side of the fence. The roof tiles are still there breaking throgh the soil in some trees. There was a massive amount of clay pipe stems and bowls, also bricks pottery and rubble. In places digging was next to impossible, my small digger was about as much use as a solar powered vampire. For me the best find was a punch made from copper.

HH Robert.

The pipe bowls look late Georgian, so to be honest in England it's classed as a fairly modern site.

That statement just kills us over here. If I dig something from the 1860's out here in Denver, it's big time news. Starting the "Fly to England Fund" as I speak.

Looks like a neat place to dig, might be a few bottles somewhere.

Looks like a fun site especially this time of the season when everything is planted and growing! I got skunked today with the exception of a WWII zinc swastika coin in poor condition. I like that pile of pipes, an intact clay pipe is high on my list of finds. HH, Mike

A very cool post and hunt. Looks to be a great site with many more rewards and future post to come. ( solar powered vampire) LMAO

Good question, but it would take a JCB to move all the new stuff bricks and all.
