This morning I decided to narrow the field with my
dowsing rods.
I zeroed in and concentrated on a civil war button.
The rods directed me to and old foundation and on
my second hit I checked with my tesoro and came
up "coin". I dug, and found a brass button. No way
to be sure if it is civil war era, but I'll be dowsing
before I detect quite often now.
I find it amazing that if I am concentrating clear
enough, my dowsing rod ALMOST always hit
paydirt...............................Believe it or not.

Does anybody have any intelligent thoughts on this?

I was taught dowsing when I was a kid. I used to be good at it, you could actually feel the pull on the rods telling you which way to go. My dad would plant coins in the yard and I could find them. I tried recently, but with no success. I guess I just don't have the feel for it any more. Coins were not the only thing I could find, caves also, but I couldn't find water.

i too thought it was just for water,, i would definately try it !! peeps been doing it for a long ,long time,, ya gotta be open minded...... ;D ;D ;D ;D

dont know much about dowsing, but if it works for you then go for it.i believe in it,just never tried it,im kinda of the mind frame that i will believe in it until it is proved false.of course my girlfriend thinks im crazy because when i drive my semi,i always keep my digital camera in reach in case i see bigfoot or a ufo or ghost or anything else strange. ;D

If I am not mistaken, seems to me there were massive 'discussions' about dowsing when I first signed up here over a year ago, and there is another forum here more appropriate for a discussion about whether or not it works.

http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/board,200.0.html

Now, being objective, and not caring one way or the other, I would say that you concentrated on finding something, then looked around an old foundation.

Just because you did them in that order does not prove dowsing works.

If you find stuff out in a field at random by dowsing, then that is more like 'proof' to me. Meaning, you follow the rods indications to some spot where it is not likely there is anything to be found, and you find something, then that is more like 'proof', though once again, it could be said you just picked a spot where you thought there might be something, and coincidentally there was something there.

Though of course, you were using a metal detector, so yes, your post is relative to this forum.
;)
;D

Hi, i dunno what to believe many say it is real, sure is hard to believe, i worked for the state parks and guy that worked there used dowsing rods to find warter lines and found the exact spot to dig , i was pretty schocked, still hard to believe, people find the gold? caves? water? coins? and notice quite a few use them to find ghost, paranormal? pretty adnormal stuff, even heard of pendulum , people find stuff on maps? other word for dowsing is called "witching", this way of finding stuff has been dated to 7000 years ago, i never tried any of it, maybe i should try it sometime to see if i can do it to believe, or some say including the guy that worked for the state, if don't belive you won't be able to do, pretty weird, later tg

It works, I use just an old bent coat hanger in each hand. Have found rings at the beach but not coins. Congrats on your finds......HH

I was looking for a button and I found a button. Nothing else.
If you don't like the idea of dowsing, don't get into the conversation.
I have the feeling you just wrote a comment to be rude. Maybe I'm wrong.

I'm curious. If you found a button and "nothing else," what's up with all the rest of the stuff in your pictures? Do your purposely dowse for batteries and aluminum cans?

Go get 'em Tyger! ;D

It is probably a back to an Eagle button? But no sure way to know. My buddy owns a plumbing business and uses dowsing all the time to find underground pipes and waterlines. Now, I dont know if it would work for finding treasure and coins. I do agree that RESEARCH is the key element though. ;)

Looks like the end of a shotgun shell to me?

But,

if it is the back of a shotgun shell........................

Need more photos like af1733 asked for.
