Bounty Hunter Land Ranger Pro
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I spent my Sunday at Galveston Beach, and what an experience it was. I spent 5 hours hunting and ended the day with Vodka. I definitely learned one important thing.. Don't dig up every signal you come across or you're going to get very exhausted very quickly. 20200106_084954.jpg

Good haul of junk you got there. I’m one thing I’ve learned in almost 30 years of detecting, if you’re on a beach or land, you have to dig all the signals on the beach even pulltab signals, as they come in on your detector as the same signal. I’ve dug few rings, but have dug several other pieces of jewelry. I hate to say it, I know I’ve missed them because I just can’t get down, and dig them all anymore.

Yep digging it all is exhausting but like CW22 I know I have left good stuff in the ground:BangHead:

nice finds Welcome to Tnet from Palestine TX

I’ve left a bunch behind. After breaking my back, and tearing my ACL completely off my left leg, tore the meniscus, and damaged 90% of the cartilage in my left knee, it becomes a lot harder to get up, and down all day long. That’s why I usually relic hunt more than coin hunt because I can be out in the middle of nowhere, carry a bigger shovel to use as something to walk with.

Great sassy molassey
If you can’t dig everything on a sand beach you are a girl
Scooping sand is easy, try Indiana dirt

Kinda what I was thinking, try digging Arkansas rock, or what’s called dirt. There may be a inch of grass, and dirt, but the rest is rocks so compacted on top of one another it’s like digging in someone’s spoils from a mining area, and then it’s been covered in with less than an inch of dirt. Most of the times I try to use my shovel, feels like I stuck it against the pavement, and kicked down on it. So I’ll end up scraping the dirt off with my hand digger, and using my pin pointer as I pull the 3/4”-1” rocks out of the way.

I would disagree, keep digging all that trash. Just get fitter & faster at recovering them from the ground/sand.

Trust me I dig most pull tab signals on all beaches or soft soil areas, but I also have my discrimination down so low that it would be hard to miss. I’ve ran mine through the mill with different rings in the test bed, and can say for sure that the signals are there, and I’ve also learned that if you pay close attention to the VDI numbers with a pull tab, and a ring they will change enough to notice a difference between trash, and treasure. Just the other day I found a old brass ring that was plated long ago, possibly silver or gold, and there was no mistaking the sound of it.

Dig it all!!!! After some time you'll figure out what is what! Patients and a lot of alcohol helps! Welcome to the boards! :laughing7:

Keep at it. It's just a matter of time until that nice ring shows up.

Welcome to the hobby, it's very addicting. If it's a quiet spot I try to dig everything. I dug dozens of bullets and shell casings on my hunt yesterday.

Yeah welcome to the hobby. In the 30 years I’ve done it, you’ll realize some women will piss and moan if you want to detect instead of taking them out, and then you’ve got the real keepers that want to go with you when you go, because they want to share in the excitement. I’ve had one like that, my other 3 wives could give a damn less, and complained all the time. If I didn’t go out every single time, and find something worth money, then I wasted money(that’s the way the last one thought), she kicked me out of the house a few months ago, #1 over money( I’m a medically disabled veteran law enforcement officer, and don’t receive much money, and she’s too lazy to get a job to help support the family, and our baby.#2. Because I didn’t find her a diamond ring, or something worth selling. My purchase of a metal detector was a huge waste of money to her, even though it was out of my savings, and I’ll be getting a settlement from the company anyways that I worked for when I broke my back and leg at work.

Remember one thing: don’t pick a woman, unless she’s into metal detecting, and maybe deer hunting;)

Good call on that last sentence [emoji16]

Beaches have been pretty rough on me. I lived at the Panama City beach for about 3 years and never found a thing on the beach. I would say keep at it though cause eventually you will score nicely on the beach. Plenty of examples on this site. Good luck.

Welcome to treasurenet and good luck with that first detector. You really need to dig most of your signal when you first get started to get used to how your machine reacts to different things in varying ground conditions. I have been at this for a long time. Some places I dig everything, some I dig only mid and high tones and others I dig mostly only high tones it all depends on the circumstances of the hunt. It doesn’t matter where you go to hunt there can be plenty of junk and some goodies almost anywhere you go. Just keep at it and you will get stronger and faster at recovering the targets and good things will come your way.

Congratulations on a good first hunt and keep swingin.

We'd all rather find lost items than those that were thrown. Don't get discouraged! Just get it in your head that anywhere people have ever been, items were lost by some.

The main thing is the experience you're getting. The beach is sure easier to dig than a rooted yard. There's what fifty cents already? That beach is sure hard on those zinc pennies.
