What a coincidence...you know there is another post with a similar find!

Did you happen to find it in a remote canon east of San Francisco? Did you get your treasure map in a box of Wheaties?

Did you notice the similarity of the Spanish coin with our modern American penny...WOW, guess we copy old stuff too. ;D

Possibly you 2 can compare notes...maybe even change the TITLE of the post every other day or so.

Have the signature verified...kinda looks like...well you know...kinda flaky...somewhat like a piece of beef jerky... :laughing7:

WOW! Great relic, few people know the story of Hernan Cortez's slightly slow brother Sherman. You might have just opened up a fascinating new field of research......I'd put it in a safe place before the Spanish govt. tries to claim it and before the local archaeologists kick your door in!

Few people know that Sherman Cortez lost his life in a bizarre accident involving a quill pen. (the details are lost to time, we may never know) What we do know is that he discovered evidence that the Aztecs had hired space aliens to transport most of their gold to a remote canyon in Utah, and that Sherman was hot on the trail with a map he bought from a drunkard in Belize. There are some who claim he found it, and that the Alien Guards caused a landslide which buried his entire party under tons of sand. Sherman was the only one to escape, sadly losing his life while writing down the story. I met an old prospector type guy at a truckstop diner in New Mexico who told me he knew a guy whose friend had discovered the remains of Shermans party in the 1940's and he drew me a map on the back of a matchbook.

I hope to go hunting for it soon, but it will be expensive. Anyone who would like to invest in my venture can help with rocket launchers (in case of alien attack) and one of those really cool gold finding cameras to assist me in locating the treasure.

NOLA Ken---Your story missed a couple of details. It was not a quill, but in fact, a silver letter opener dated 1534. That is why it was secreted in a lonely place, never to be found again. Until an intrepid young person stumbles across it and narrowly misses being impaled by it. Too bad, it would have had better reception. Radio waves, I mean.

Thanks for that info, I've been researching it since this afternoon and I think I'm getting close to finding the location of the treasure. We should combine our knowledge and find this before anyone else does. There could be literally tens of dollars worth of treasure at stake here. I found out that all I need to do is drop my digital camera just right and it will take aura pictures, so now I just need to detect the local parks until I have enough tin foil to line my hat with (to block those radio waves you mentioned)

Yes sir! He wore that one after he moved to AZ and changed the spelling of his last name. You should contact the Pawn Stars. It's worthy.
