They call it "Mellow Yellow"

Went out with TreasureFiend today for a few hours. He worked the wash, while I worked the water. Lots of trash, and a few silver coins too. Managed to dig 2 14k rings, one of which has a really nice sapphire, and part of a ??k chain/bracelet. All in all a good hunt. 5 silver coins and 3 pieces of gold. the first pic is a little blurry, but has a nice shot of the sapphire. the 2nd pic is a bit clearer. Enjoy and HH.
Weights are:
sm. ring 1.4g, chain 1.7g & lg. ring 7g.

Re: They call it "Mellow Yellow"

great finds always wanted to hunt the water one of these days it looks to be fun but i have heard it is a lot of work too dennis

Re: They call it "Mellow Yellow"

It is a lot of work. About ten pounds of trash per ring ;D

But definitely fun, because you never know what's going to be in your scoop.

Yes Mark, I use insulated neoprene chest waders.

nice loot!!!!!!! Got a picture of the coins?

I'll snap a pic and post later tonight. They're already in holders, but that's okay. You'll see how dark they come out of the water.

Mine is the "Stealth" by Sunspot. A very good scoop. Large enough not to have to rescoop a bunch. Usually get the target on the first try.

Its good for the dry sand, but you need something with a "diamond" shape scoop for the water. They are more practical, especially when you have a good cut and are faced with big rocks. You want to minimize the time you are spending recovering a target, because there are plenty of junk targets in the water you have to dig to get the gold. D-Dub has both, and won't use anything but the diamond head scoop in the water.
