went out for a night hunt as per usual... and hit a stretch of condo's that I havent hit yet.. after yelling at kids who were hitting me with a laser pointer (I told their dad they better quit or else when he walked on the balcony) I found another guy MDing.. said there were about 4 others hitting that condo earlier in the day so the pickings would be slim (even tho as he was saying that I dug up about .30 in change in front of one of the condo chairs... so i decide he had that stretch of chairs covered and walked to the next condo where I found some more change, so thinking that noone hit this stretch of chairs yet I went all around them and at the 3rd chair I hit a good ID 42 and dug but didnt find my quarter, but found this earring... looking at it I laughed to myself 'yea right this isn't real".. so I check the back and I see it is stamped 925.. so I thought hey, at least its silver... after a few more hours out I decide to head home.. all the while looking at how shiny this earring is.. looks brand new.. so for giggles I look at the 925 on the back with my magnifying glass and its clear as day... then just for fun I try to use the side of the stone sticking out of the earring to cut my magnifying glass.. and it cuts a slice right in it... thinking that magnifying glass might not be glass... I grab a glass bowl... and I'm just scratching the heck out of it, and i check the stone and there's not a mark on it... so basically what I'm asking, is will a fake rock slice up glass? is there any other way I can test it without having an actual tester? giving the sheer size of the rock I'm almost 99% sure its fake... here's some pics...

total take for the night: 18 ptabs, 20 pennies, 2 nickels, 8 dimes, 13 quarters, this earring, and 1 samsung cell phone =)

someone just tell me I'm stupid for even thinking this thing might be real.

thanks for reading

i've tried the glass cut method... and since i read that glass has a rating of about 5.5 on hardness and diamond is 10, to try harder material.. and it's cut a pot and the head of a hammer.. i'm still saying fake, but never saw something cut the head of a hammer before lol... going to take it to a jewler because i have no in-home way of testing it..

real or fake, its still a shiny pretty rock.. dunno what i'll do with it tho

Typically,on one carat and up studs...isn't the stud threaded? All of my better-half's are.

you are talking friction backings?... less likely for it to fall off... but all friction attachments i've seen are in gold settings.. don't know about silver
