There Talking 50's by Sunday!!!!

It sure would be nice if that sticks around until New Years. I have to work Monday and Tuesday of next week, but that'll give it time to dry out...............It's almost been 2 whole weeks since we got out.

I'm with Mikewaz on this one. There's a chance the woods won't be as bad as the open parks. We might still need to chip away a bit but it might just be possible. The real challenge, I believe, will be the thick mud and slush everywhere! Keep your hopes up guys!

Two weeks?!?! That's all it's been? Feels like it's been months. Wow.

It's 53°F right now! Supposed to get up to 58°F by 12:30pm! Hmm... guess I'll get my Fisher Impulse ready to go to the sledding hills for an hour or so. I'll have to bring the pistol probe with as well. It's just going to be too nasty out to dig... the mud will surely put a damper on things. I might bring my E-Trac just for the hell of it, discrimination might be nice.

My Dad and I both got Fisher Impulses at beginning of November. My Step Mom found them at a garage sale in Florida and snacked them up quick! We each got a Fisher Impulse with the water proof headphones, long handled stainless steel scoop, and floating sifter basket for $100. My Dad got the extra short handled SS scoop. It's a nice PI detector with an 8" round coil on it, goes up to 250ft unda-da-sea and has an incredible battery life. It also has a web belt so you can do a waist/chest mount which makes it light as a feather. I took it out detecting one day after a rain, and it was SO freaking muddy the detector was literally covered in mud. I didn't have a pinpointer with me at the time, which would have been nice... but I found my first 20 cent euro with it, so it was a cool hunt. Keep me on the call list when you guys are hitting the beaches this summer!

As for today, it's raining and windy out so I guess it's a total bust.

I had no idea you had PI water units...you should add them to your list of detectors, even though you may not use them regularly. You should come along to the beach this summer, I only got out to the beach a few times this year, but now with the Excal I'll be a fixture!

Done! Yeah that would be great detecting the water. I did a bunch of bay side water detecting in Florida earlier in May and it was a lot of fun. Unfortunately it got so hot in the day time that we spent most of our time in the water in the morning and night. Tide times were all too important to follow, as walking though 1 foot of water is much easier than 3 feet of water. I had an ACE 250 then, so it wasn't easy hunting the water with a plastic hand scoop, but it was fun. Got my first gold ring back then in the water, and that was priceless.

Cold and icy out this morning fellas, beware them falling tree branches if you're hitting the woods! They've been soaked and froze, thawed and froze again and the breeze will surely be bringing them down. If you've got some sledding hills like I have, then you've got some serious ice picking to do!

Didn't feel the effects of yesterday morning's hunt until last night, think I'll just lay back and watch Da Bears today, hit it up tomorrow and maybe it'll be nicer then. Gonna go for one more piece of gold and another 26 cents or so in change (don't wanna work too hard for clad) before the new year gets here.

Well I'm going to wait for it to warm up to just about not freezing and go see what's lying on top of the ground at the sledding hill. MAYBE there will be a opportunity to dig some stuff, we'll see how hard the ground is. There are some really loose areas to dig in my nearby park.
