Penny Arcade reject tray: Canadian Quarter (1982) and a 1904 Large Canadian cent in good shape. Probly grades VF maybe even XF. Its color is that what you would expect but the details are all very nice and sharp. Was not expecting this. Would it be valuable? I plan on putting it in a 2x2 anyway...

So as you can see, Ive been doing Quarters lately. Im obviously hoping for Silver, and I know the averages are ROCK BOTTOM when it comes to Quarters, but I also keep Bicentennials, and am on the hunt for the Wisconsin D extra leaf on the corn error as well. Plus, not manhy CRH'ers are doing Quarters BECAUSE they are so pulled of silver. So who knows? A collection dump or even just a stray Pre 65' would be nice to find in a roll. Hell, Maybe Ill even find a standing Liberty or a Barber Quarter someday. Its not entirely impossible. Just... Very very very slim odds.

Good luck to everyone else.

Congrats on the free old large Canadian cent. And good luck with the quarter hunting. I think there have been a couple of nice quarter scores posted fairly recently. Just never know with this hobby. :)

H$H!

Didnt buy any rolls today. But that doesnt matter, the register was the best at giving up goodness today than it ever has been. My first customer in my line bought sandles or whatever they were and paid 11 dollars for them. The register opens, and staring right at me is the Indian head of a nickel. Turned out to be a Very Good to Fine condition 1937 full date. Later after my first break, I get sent to another register and soon after it opened for the first time I fished through the quarters just a bit and I see a whiter but also dirtier one (tarnished). Turned out to be an amazing 1957 Silver Washington! :hello2: My first ever silver quarter found anywhere. Probly grades VF or even EF even with the amount of tarnish. Also managed a centennial (1967) canadian cent, and a 1951 wheat. What a day that was.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5/18/2014

Didnt work or buy rolls today. Went to a friends birthday get together and gave him a 64' dime. He doesnt really care about coins, but it was a quick gift type thing.

Got up with only 3 hours and 45 minutes of sleep or so. Had to get things done today and was up late. I decided circulated Bicentennial quarters were a waste of time and gave them to the bank for 11$ after I dumped the 55ish dollars in cents and nickels I had from many days before. Onto the finds.

19 hand wrapped rolls of cents: 11 wheats total. I gave one to a guy I was talking to in the break room once I saw it had like a smudge of glue on it. Not to worry as it was from the 50's. One of the rolls had NINE wheats in it. My smile and surprise when I dumped that roll out was huge eheheh. Also got a dime, and a canadian "pre 60" cent, 1951 King George.

Register finds: 1955 wheat. Also found a 1$ star note with a bit of smudged ink coming off the higher star on the bill. Bought it out, and then I must have forgot and spent it on the rolls of cents from my CU at work. But to make up for it, a lady paid with a series 1950C 5$ bill. I currently have that one my desk right now. But, the best find of the day was later before I went home and it wasnt really busy. I was working one register in the middle of the store and decided to edge check the quarters since I had time. I didnt see anything of interest so set them back in their place. Luckily I decided to fish through them a second and saw the eagle end of one that was very worn and I thought to myself "Thats GOT to be silver". Sure enough, a well worn 1935 Silver Washington! :headbang: I couldnt believe it. I looked at the edge and the tarnishing on the sides had browned it up a bit, hence why I got fooled. 2 Silver quarters over the course of a couple days. Im starting to think theres more out there than Ive heard.

Lookout finds: 2 wheats: 1956 D and 1944.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, a guy was dumping his coins into the coinstar machine at my work, and I noticed he was getting some rejects. It was like 10:45 PM at night and business was slow, so I went over and asked if he knew what it was rejecting. He said "Just this" and it turned out to be a 1943 P war nick. I told him it was silver and he had a semi confused and "I dont give a damn" look on his face. I told him I would take it and I walked away laughing. A minute later I felt the need to make up for it, so I gave him a regular nickel from the 90's. Regardless, free silver. :laughing7:

Hay PT: I noticed in your logs that you save all 2009 P&D nickels. Naturally because of their LOW mintages, correct. But I've noticed you don't save any of the 2009 P&D dimes. They are low mintages also, but not as low as the nickels. I'm a cent & dime hunter, and save both 2009's; cents because of their unique 4-stage productions, and dimes cuz their low mintages. I have been noticing fewer & fewer of them in boxes as time marches on. Have you noticed the same? By now, since they came out, I probably accumulated several boxes of each, especially the 4-stage cents in BU rolls (full boxes). Your comments!!!

Lookout finds: 1935 Merc! :notworthy: It really pays off having people look out for you. This came from a coworker of mine who searches what registers she gets put on and over time has given me many things inlcuding plenty of wheats and a 1931 S buff nick. I gave her a hug in the break room and thanked her before we both went home. Shes an older woman, maybe 50, but a nice person to talk to and whatnot.

Register gave a 1952 D wheat.

6 Loomis rolls of dimes: Skunk.

A coworkers Register opened up when someone was paying and it wasnt very busy so I ran over and peeked in the register like a goofball. Looked in the nickels and saw a work nick immediatly because of the color. Turned out to be a 1943 P war nick. Swapped it with a regular nick.

Register: 1956 D wheat.

Was dumping today and got a 1941 reject. I mustve missed it while searching cents. It was roughly banged up over the obverse and reverse which Im assuming caused it to be rejected.

1 Loomis roll of dimes: Skunk.

10 MWR (paper) of cents: 5 wheats. Oldest 1930.

Brinks Box of cents: Almost solid 2013. 3 rolls had 1 cent in them each with a darker edge than all the brand new ones. I opened them and they were 2004, 1992, and 1982. How they get mixed in with a brand new box from last year is beyond me. Though Ive heard of it happening before.

Brinks box of nickels: Two war nicks both 1943 P and in the same roll. This has happened to me once before with there being two war nicks in 1 roll but hat was months ago. I also believe it was a brinks box too. This box also gave up a 192? buff, and a 1927 buff. Brinks boxes are the best for nickels and cents in my opinion. At least in this area.

Took a road trip today and hit a few banks on the way up to my grandparents. Bank 1 had 11$ total in loose halves and while date checking them (I do this because Ive missed a few 40%ers just edge checking and Ill never risk this again) a 1986 S statue of liberty clad proof revealed Itself. Its almost flawless and is a beautiful coin. Bank 2 was a credit union and turned me down because Im not a member. Bank 3 had 15$ total loose halves and among them was a lone 64'. I watched them count it out and could see the bright white obverse from a mile away. Kept a straight face and made off with some AG. Cant complain. Bank 4 had 5.50$ loose and amongst that was a 78' S clad proof. Grades BU-AU.

20 hand wrapped rolls of dimes: 1960 D Rosie.

2 hand wrapped rolls of halves: Skunk.

Brinks box of nickels: 1925 buff nick, and a foreign coin I cant identify. It has no date and once I learn how to post pictures Ill make a "need ID" thread.

1$ in loose halves: Both clad.

Was dumping at my dump bank and every so often the reject chute would spit out a few things. This particular machine counts rather slowly and you cant reach up inside it unfortunately. Regardless, I made off with 5 canadian quarters, a 2006 canadian dime, a "One Penny" coin from 2001, and several Canadian nickels, 5 out of the 6 of which were 99.9% ones. The dates on them are 1981, 1966, 1964, 1963, and 1962. The other one was a 2009.
