I hunted the woods for 3 hours today. Only a couple of mosquitoes which was nice.
I found the Merc and about 10 feet away I got a faint signal and found this Half Dime about 6 inches down. Also found one wheatie.
Sure good to find some old silver. The HD looks like it was shot possibly.
My oldest coin to date. Too bad it is bent.
What rotten luck Eh. Best luck---Merf

Sweet find Merf. You have a nose for the old stuff. :) Yeah, it is great to find that really old stuff. A little bit of a shame that such a nice looking coin got mangled. :P

Bob

Thanks Bob--I had a lucky day---I will hit those woods again for sure.

That bent coin has a rip in it as if someone shot it with a rifle.

I would take a bent half dime VS no half dime at all. I think it's cool Murf, it's got character.

Thanks Gib---It will be fun to show it.

Congrats to you Merf.
Bent or not, I'd LOVE to find a dime that old in the woods. Or any other coin for that matter. ;) Great find in my book. Still waiting to find an old coin in the woods myself.

Wow the condition of the half dime other than being bent is unbelievable. Congrats on the old and new silver, I like that silver no matter what!!!!

nice half dime merf, that is a very small target good conversation piece don't bend it back
like i did with an old 1910 large Canadian penny, I wish I left it in shot form.

Merf too bad about the 1/2 dime. It was in such nice condition. Oh well at least the merc was nice. I hope you get out there again. Maybe there's a nice seated waiting for you.

Very nice finds,,, Even bent, it still looks good... WTG!!!
Also, I'd hit that area hard, maybe there's another one there that fell off the fence post before they had a chance to shoot it... ;D
Continued Good luck, & Happy hunting~
