The Swiss Factor

They're still "pagans"...what can i say? :dontknow:

"The Swiss have a full auto assault rifle in every home!".....Probably true, but this doesn't help keep crime down as every Swiss robber, burglar, rapist, murderer knows that it's illegal for anyone to keep ammo for those said weapons in the home! They face more danger from a golf club!
Just another NRA fallacy! :)

If guns deter crime in non criminal hands then why does the us have such a high homicide rate? Given the amount of guns in this country shouldn't we have one if the lowest?

I think you start off with a unproven premise which is that guns in non criminal hands stop crime.

And as you know anecdotal evidence is absolutely meaningless.[/QU
Have i not offered you access to sources to research for yourself? Argue with the sources if you like,i,m not going to locate those involved and arrange for you to question them. Nor will i quote my own experience with an intruder.
People will murder. gun not required. What crime exists in my owning guns? Numbers of murders do not include my name as the cause. Take it up with murderers.
You want to relieve me of them p.m. me. We,ll establish fair value and handle it legally. Buy them all! One i gifted a friend you won,t replace under 2000. Relieve me of an investment and make people safer!.
Multiply average by nation and who pays?.

I am on topic, they took your guns away so now english subjects are using knives to assault people, dead is dead, the method does not matter.

It seems your care more about Americans right to bear arms than in helping your own kinfolk there.

What English forums are you posting on about the knife assaults in England so we can visit it and help?

TH - please stay on topic. Thanks!

GIB - Seems once again you're too lazy to go find the explanation about my sig' pic' already posted, so a quick pointer. It signifies my OWN view that EVERYBODY has a right to be armed, but with limits and restrictions! That includes me. OK?
(Please don't do a TH on me and start whining about knives and dogs in fights, it's very tedious. You asked - i answered.)

I like drunk Swedish chicks, they do wonderful things! :occasion18:

Can you elaborate to all of us why England has anything to do with a thread that is called "The Swiss Factor" please?

gun control

hi dano i read it all...your not exactly right. the main reason we want to keep our gun rights and purpose of the second ammendant is to protect ourselves from hostile foregin or domestic governments...did you happen to see where that x-cop in california went off on the police department? well persoanlly i agree that he needed put down he was like a mad dog but why lie about it. He was actually murdered by the police they burned that place down on purpose. There happen to be a news crew at the scene but that news got swept under the rug pretty fast and then they lied and said that they didn't do it on purpose...i heard it myself as it was happening so they did. Thats not the only example they did it before in Waco Texas and they hadn't fired a shot at police they were just refusing to come out. The gas they used in both places turns into poison gas when it burns (senoide)....They actually vented the compound in Waco so that it'd kill them all. That kid that shot up the school in Sandy Hook he didn't use the .223 like the news is reporting now, it was not used, it was in his car he used a 9mm in the school all the guns he had were stolen from his mother and he had a mental illness. I don't agree with all this killing (it's awful)but a handful of incedents shouldn't effect law abiding citizens. More people die from driving under the influence in a year than a decade of gun violence as sad as both are. The regulations and laws arent being enforce that we already have so why restrict more. I do agree that people w/mental illness shouldn't have guns and we could do more in that area but hippa laws keep personal medical history out of the equasion because of discrimination. This is a politically motivated agenda set in motion to remove rights provided by the constitution to keep law abiding citizens from owning guns that equal the firepower all govt enitys have, one voice won't change anything thats why the nra exist. Now a question for you if there was no way around a fight and you know that you arent wrong and are determined not to be jailed for your opinion but the opposing force says that you are and all legal recourse has failed and they come after you with their fully automatic weapons and you have to defend yourself do you want a BB-gun or the same arms they have? Your already out numbered, do you really want to be out gunned too? I'm not affiliated with the NRA and I don't have any fully automatic weapons but I support the people that do as long as they abide by the laws already in place. Terrorist criminals and government all have access to fully auto weapons...none of which really have any real reguard for the law. This isn't an attack on you personally its just my personal opinion and the basis that the NRA stand for (i think) and I'll debate it with you or anyone who choses to voice their opinion. We can't take our freedom for granted and if we do we lose our rights as a people. Personally I think that we are in trouble already...the new generation has no respect for their elders. Spare the rod spoil the child like the bible says...not that I agree with child abuse but when they act out bust their butt, thats what i got growing up and not just from my parents either, aunts uncles teachers principals all got me lol. It taught me respect. Kids these days just don't understand not to mention they think their invencible and that's where a lot of this gun violence comes from both parents working to survive or one just doing the best they can. The news really glorifys dirty laundry and the kids know that theres basically no ramafications for their actions fix that alone and a lot of problems will go away. Just my humble opinion I could be wrong.

Respectfully, Don

Relevant, while I'm sorry for your own personal experience they are what are termed anecdotal existence and are completely meaningless to a discussion/debate.

Relevant while I completely sympathize with your personal experiences as you know that experience is what is termed anecdotal evidence and is completely meaningless to a discussion/debate.

lol Dano your cartoon is part of the topic isn't it? What your people choose to accept is up you and your people. I don't know why the NRA chose to use your laws as an example, all i can say is that our government would like to relieve us of our arms apparently and the NRA is trying any platform they think will work...happy people lead to less crime i guess :) Honestly I don't know why people choose to stick their nose in other peoples business so much...but l'm of the opinion and words of a song by Hank Williams Jr "if you mind your own business then you won't be minding mine"....oops that isn't part of the forum either lol
No offence intended by that comment. If I were a leader in this country I'd change the way it works and America would mind their own business more starting with withdrawing from the UN and we'd stop acting like world police. We have enough problems here w/o involving anyone else.

The expression anecdotal evidence refers to evidence from anecdotes. Because of the small sample, there is a larger chance that it may be unreliable due to cherry-picked or otherwise non-representative samples of typical cases.[1][2] Anecdotal evidence is considered dubious support of a claim; it is accepted only in lieu of more solid evidence. This is true regardless of the veracity of individual claims.[3][4][5]

The term is often used in contrast to scientific evidence, such as evidence-based medicine, which are types of formal accounts. Some anecdotal evidence does not qualify as scientific evidence because its nature prevents it from being investigated using the scientific method. Misuse of anecdotal evidence is an informal fallacy and is sometimes referred to as the "person who" fallacy ("I know a person who..."; "I know of a case where..." etc. Compare with hasty generalization). Anecdotal evidence is not necessarily representative of a "typical" experience; in fact, human cognitive biases such as confirmation bias mean that exceptional or confirmatory anecdotes are much more likely to be remembered. Accurate determination of whether an anecdote is "typical" requires statistical evidence.[6][7]

Science and statistics for your debate then. Gotcha.
Where, when did N.R.A. trot out the swiss example? Not being funny but missed or ignored it. Other than that, its Swiss to me.(that was attempt at funny).

Okay lets use this as a point. Look at the states that do not have that many large cities and the majority of people still live in the country. Look at there gun stats because in the country almost everyone has a gun and rarely is there a violent crime, let alone a crime with a gun. Majority of violent crimes and murders takes place in cities with populations over 100,000.

Welcome to the Forum donb0078!

Man Dano really got us stirred up lol. Think he's really just wondering why the NRA and others would use the Swiss as an example. Dano if you/your country is being talked about in a positive light it should be a badge of honor I think. I know I've always thought of the Swiss as an honorable people and I like their neutral stance.

Thanks dieselram94

Sounds like another American getting confused between Switzerland and Sweden! lol :icon_scratch: oh!...And i'm British!:tongue3:
